Do you know why dental radiographs are so important for your pet?

Dental disease goes much further than just the gingival line. Dental radiographs allow the veterinarian to assess what’s below the tooth crown and visual eyes.

In this case, you can see the importance of why we do dental radiographs. Radiographs help the veterinarian determine tooth health, bone density, finding an oral tumor, and/or determining if a tooth needs extraction.

For this pet, we have periodontal pockets and massive bone loss around the tooth roots. Ultimately, tooth extractions are warranted for this pet.

There’s something special about not always knowing where we are traveling or knowing the homes you visit until you see an address or read the last name. Then excitement sets in as you know there are two new pups waiting to meet you!

Pet loss is hard to overcome. Sometimes a new pet can help over come loss and help the healing process for some! Happiness is seeing these pups bring joy!

Not every day is our job easy…but seeing these guys made my day and brought tears of joy! This is why we do our job!

Can you see the tartar and calculus build up on the teeth? It may be a little hard to find the smaller pieces. We utilize a black light to help find areas that are missed with the naked eye! Did you know tartar and calculus glow fluorescent pink under a black light? Every dental, every pet with a dental cleaning gets checked with a black light to ensure proper a dental cleaning! As we experience the hot dog days of summer, we often have pet parents ask us what is considered normal in terms of their pets panting. Anything under 30 breaths per minute is considered normal, anything above 35 may be a cause for concern and is worth contacting us at (615) 784-9686
