Sending a huge thank you to for helping this injured pigeon! We got a call about a pigeon with an injured wing hiding under a front porch. We were able to catch him/her and transport him right to the vet.
We are hopeful that he will be able to be released after he is feeling better!

We are beyond happy to announce that Tamale has been adopted! Tamale joined our rescue over 2 years ago and has been in the loving care of his fosters for 1.5 years. During his time with them, he has grown so much! What was once a scared little dog with big feelings about most everything, is now a confident young man who loves running and playing with other dogs, cuddling with both of his moms, and making the most of every day. We are so grateful for all of the love, patience, and compassion his foster (now adoptive!) moms have shown him.
We are so happy for Tamale, Robyn, Jess and Marnie!

Bentley did great yesterday! The vet said he likely had a ruptured abscess that became infected and continued to be irritated from living outside. They trimmed the necrotic tissue and gave him antibiotic injection. He also had a pretty bad ear infection.
In about 2 weeks, he’ll go back for a neuter and if need be, they will surgically repair the wound site if it hasn’t healed by then.
Thank you all for stepping up, we wouldn’t have been able to take him without you!!

Astra is being surrendered by her owners because they unfortunately don’t have enough time for her. She’s 4 years old and currently lives with a small dog, rabbits, and little kids. She loves people and is super friendly!
Astra behaves well in the house, is not destructive, and potty trained.
She still needs to be spayed so we would ask any possible adopter to bring her to that appointment, which we would of course pay for.
Husky experience would be great but not required!

This was Protectors of Paws & Claws’s first dog, Frankie 💕 4 years ago today she was found on the streets. She was adopted to an amazing home in rural Vermont. Frankie didn’t like the cold weather, so they both retired to Mexico. We’re so happy to share this long overdue update.
Good work Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. We still have one kitty from Empawthy who is still very sick.
Adopters get mad when we won’t adopt out a single kitten and this is why. Please don’t bash rescues who follow the practice of adopting out pairs or a kitten to a home with another cat we have our reasons!

More orphaned mice were found by employees at Whole Foods. A volunteer fed them every 3 hours overnight until we could get them to the wonderful Jaydean (a former adopter) who will continue to hand raise them. Good luck little guys 🥹

Here is Everest and foster sister Midnight. Unfortunately Midnight’s mate passed away. So Everest’s foster family decided to try introducing them. Gerbils are very social and need companionship of another gerbil however, introducing them is a long process! They need to be in a “split-cage” with little activity for at least 2 weeks, swapping sides 3x a day.
