The honest side of running a rabbitry....some months are slow. But the upside is a unique opportunity to watch some of these guys grow. While little babies sure are cute, older babies just get more and more stunning!

And finally, this perfect 'stuffed velveteen rabbit' now made real, Bethany's Bunnies Mistique. She is out of the illustrious PHR's Rogue (the favorite of anyone who meets her) and Bethany's Bunnies Quicksilver. She takes after her mama in personality, petite size, and richly thick, soft coat. And her dad in perfect ears and crown. While her color may not be as jaw dropping as Phoenix, this girl certainly holds her own in all other categories.

Next up is Bethany's Bunnies Phoenix. This stunning home-raised girl is our keeper girl out of PHR's Siryn and Bethany's Bunnies Quicksilver. Her highlights are her stunning coat, solid frame and well set ears. Oh, yeah and that very boopable nose that gives lots of nudges for attention.

I can't believe we are here!!! Rogue's last litter. Ever. With 5 of our beautiful mama's retiring this year, it will be the end of a big era. And the start of a new one. I will announce a couple of our keeper babies this weekend but for now, I would like to introduce you to Rogue's boys. These boys will be tiny, will be magnificently soft, will have the most loving personalities ever. I would love to see these boys become ESAs or SPED animal ambassadors but they would also make for the perfect family pet. Please visit the website to learn more.

Surprise! Those of you that know me in person may already know that we had a small group of four (adult) ducks. Unfortunately, we lost one yesterday. We don’t have any predators besides maybe raccoons and she had suffered some major injuries but it’s hard to tell if they were pre- or post-mortem. While still very sad at the sudden loss, we are excited to introduce our new little pipsqueak gang!

Spruce shines the brightest when he’s one on one. He’s not the life of the party, but he would love to be the light of your life. He is neutered and his litter box skills are impeccable! He is an excellent candidate for free roaming.
His recent foster said that he took a few days to warm up, but then was so sweet and interactive. He does great with cats and would probably do just fine with respectful dogs and gentle children. He is a potential candidate for bonding, but will do just fine as a solo bun.

I signed, supported, and shared. So should you!

Adopting a rescue is amazing. But even a really good breeder can offer resources, long-term support and a pet that is as healthy as possible at purchase. Petco can’t even be bothered to sell or promote proper supplies/food/enrichment.
We already see rabbits (often mis-gendered) with malocclusion and other health issues from Petland. Petland rabbits have been dumped so often since they came here. WE DO NOT NEED THIS FROM PETCO TOO!

I finally got around to it! Some pieces were scattered and some had yet to be put up. From original art pieces, such as the hand sketched rabbit skeleton to thoughtful gifts from friends to special rabbitry keepsakes, they now all have a proper place I can enjoy them every time I walk by.

And a close-up of my very first rabbits. Thumper and Jenny were New Zealand whites and while I only stuck with the breed for a few years in order to focus on better pet breeds, they were certainly very special rabbits that helped me get to where I am now. And a huge thank you to my Grandad who somehow convinced my parents that gifting live animals to an 11-year-old was a good idea. (Ps…I don’t think that kid should ever be primary caregivers to animals but I was a rare case and I had lots of support from my parents.)

Look how cute these guys are! Both boys keep coming and booping my knee to make sure I’m paying attention to them. Cardinal has fully claimed the litter box and doing zoomies and Finch is being the sweet, gentle boy he always says. These two brothers are so handsome and would absolutely love to fly the nest!

The best thing about my day some days is a good cuddle from a cozy baby. I was only planning on a couple of minutes until he decided to take a nap. Wish I had caught that on camera but we all know, it is not allowed to move, even to reach for one’s phone, when a baby (of any species) is sleeping on you. He could be cuddling on your lap if you want!

I am just so in love with Rogue's last litter!!! She always has stunning babies, but these are beyond perfect. I would like to introduce Bethany's Bunnies Mystique, our keeper doe and Rogue's successor. Her blue marten coloration, dense coat, and perfectly rounded ears and head make me want to just squeeze her. Her brothers will be destined for special roles, not sure what yet but they are just as wonderful as their sister.

Some of you may remember when we suddenly lost Vale last year. While we were not able to find any of her children to continue the line, we are delighted to say that we were able to find one of her full brothers. We are borrowing him for some very special breeding sessions, which will hopefully result in a daughter to replace Adelaide, who will be retiring this year. Plus, I figured it would be a good opportunity to see how genetics combined with Astrid and with Amelia.

While they may have grown, Birdie's babies are still just as cute! I'm really loving their individual personalities. The boys and girls (including mama Birdie) have been separated.
Wren (black) is the biggest and is silky smooth with an inquisitive and sweet personality. She loves to binky and zoom in the happiest way! Chickadee (harlequin) was the smallest but has now reached 2nd smallest. She managed to inherit extra soft fur (not as soft as rex but like it). She has always been the spunky one and is the first to approach people and the first to inspect new things. I could see her doing really well in a fast paced environment and being extremely easy to train to do fun behaviors.
Finch (chestnut) is his mama's mini-me in every way. As a baby he was always by her side. He is going to be the smallest. He is shy but sweet. Sort of hangs to the back and doesn't push for attention but is happy for attention if you seek him out. Cardinal (light harlequin) is super laid back. He still has baby energy but is the one who will flop by your side. I can see him being an excellent lap bunny one day!

We have a heat advisory today!!! Keeping your pet indoors year round is the better option, imo. But if you are a breeder or if you don't have that option, please monitor your rabbits closely and make certain they have shade, ventilation, and cool, fresh water at all times. If you have an indoor pet, today is definitely not the day to take them outdoors.
