BARN HOME NEEDED!

Marcie is a mama kitty who’s done her duty raising her kittens and is now spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and up to date on flea/tick/heartworm prevention… Since she has now retired from motherhood, she is looking for a safe/outdoor place to call home.

Marcie is feral. She does not desire to live indoors or be a family pet.

Do you have a barn or a large property where you need a mouser or help with pest control? Miss Marcie would be great at that! We would provide supplies and assistance to help her get properly acclimated.

Remember Suzy Snowflake?

She was our organizations FIRST foster cat and FIRST adoption! This is the girl that started it all.

We get an update from her mom every few weeks and we LOVE it… Her name is now Gracie and she is doing wonderfully. She even has a doggie brother that she has gotten used to. Miss Gracie has the luxury of her dad working from home so she gets all the lovin’s all day long! She spends most of her days watching out the window staring at the birds and squirrels that come by… It’s safe to say she’s living a great life.

We figured this would be worth sharing again since more and more neo-natal and unweaned kittens are being brought into shelters daily…

This season brings warmer weather, sunny days and PLENTY of kittens! This means you may stumble across some in your yard, at the park, or anywhere really.

Many people do not know what the best course of action is and choose to bring young/unweaned kittens into the shelter because they think they have been abandoned.

This is what we call "Kit-Napping" and we've created a chart below to help you know what to do if you do happen to find some kittens!

We are in dire need of a lot of veterinary products we use for intake of cats and kittens and it has us feeling like Linus in this photo 😓😰

In order for us to purchase these products we could really use your donations!

$3 - buys a can of prescription food
$12 - buys a dose of Revolution (flea/tick/heartworm prevention)
$15 - pays for a microchip
$20 - pays for a vaccine
$40 - buys a bottle of medication
$50 - pays for a neuter surgery
$65 - pays for a spay surgery
$100 - pays for a veterinarians exam fee

Update on our FIP Warrior: Henry 💪

He has had 4 injections of this extremely expensive miracle drug and it has helped exponentially.

His fever is gone, his energy is back, the blood in his eye is slowly reabsorbing, and his appetite is better! These are all signs that this drug is working and needs to be continued.

We just ordered the next week and a half of his medication. It came to $615 dollars. This is just the beginning of his treatment. We need your help now more than ever to save Henry’s life!

Need a lil tortie in your world? 🌎

Winnie is just the girl for the job! Lil miss is sweet, loving, and full of personality. Her foster mom says she loves to accompany you every time you take a visit to the bathroom 🚽

However - she can be shy when you first meet her. So a traditional meet and greet may not be the best option for her. In situations like this, we like to utilize something we call “a trial period”! This is a few weeks where you “foster” one of our kitties and see if they are the right fit for you. With our advice, and proper acclimation time, this has led to some of our most successful adoptions yet!

When you see an adorably friendly kitty cat in the street, what do you do next?

After extensively searching for his owners and checking for a microchip… You get him neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, tested for FIV/FeLV/Heartworms, microchipped and do your darn best to find him the best home.

With all that being said, meet our new buddy:
Apple Sauce! 🍎 This lil dude is approximately 1 year old and oh-so naturally sweet! He’s the BFF you want and need in your life.

Our Henry is a warrior! 💪

He has just started the first step of his long battle ahead with ocular feline infectious peritonitis (FIP)

Up until a few years ago, FIP was a death sentence for cats. There was no known treatment. But luckily, because of a group called FIP Warriors, there is treatment, there is hope and there is support.

Henry has just embarked on a very long road to recovery. It starts with an 84 day journey of daily injections and then a lengthy observation period before we can declare him cured.

He is not out of the woods yet, far from it! Chesapeake Rescue Alliance needs your support now more than ever before. The cost of Henry’s treatment will be approximately $3000.

Sweet Potato is TIRED of waiting for his adopter to find him!

Can you believe he’s the last of our veggie crew? All 7 of his brothers and sisters found their furrever homes and I think he’s a bit jealous. Understandably so!

Meet Tyson.

Tyson is in desperate need of a one-way ticket out of the shelter. He is FIV+ and has been neutered.

This poor guy has so much potential, but the shelter is not the place to learn how loving a human can be. His social skills could use some work, and he does appreciate being loved from afar rather than up close and personal, but we can see it in his eyes… he’s got potential.

Tysons ideal situation would be a foster-to-adopt home where his hooman has socializing experience or someone who doesn’t mind owning a cat who’s more eye candy than cuddle buddy.

We are fundraising for Revolution Plus - which is a monthly flea, tick, heartworm and intestinal parasite prevention for cats/kittens. We go through a ton of this medication as it is administered every 30 days.

The average cost per dose is around 10-12 dollars per cat. We are gearing up to purchase a lot of it as we ramp up intake in the next few weeks! We estimate our cost to be in the area of $1400. 😱
