we continue to care about our puppies long after they leave us for their forever homes. As such, it’s our strict policy to only sell to individuals , we will never sell to pet shops or brokers. To make sure our puppies get the loving forever home they deserve, we have a 3 step approval process and we carefully interview all potential families by requiring all potential families to fill out our potential family questionnaire. Breeding these basset hound puppies helps my family and i become much closer. Also, we all know a dog is man’s best friend. Just from home we raise and breed all of our basset pups. Sometimes people ask me whether i prefer tri-color basset puppies, brown & white basset puppies or white & black basset puppies. Really, what i think matters most is how well you bond with your dog.

The color does not really matter to me. All of our pups receive just the best health care, love and really do get so much attention. Actually, we see all our basset hound dogs as part of our family hence treat them as such. With our discounts you can get a basset pup at a fair price.

We have been breeding these puppies for over 10 years + now. It really has been an amazing experience and it has also brought my family and I much closer. With the help of my family, we ensure that all of our puppies are well taken care of. These puppies are raised in our home and receive all the home training they need before they are ready to go. With our first few litters, we only dealt locally. But due to our good reputation and testimonials from people who got their pup from us, there was an increased pressure from people who couldn’t come for pickup but wanted one of our pups. Who can resist that short & stout tough look, while being swoon by those droopy sad eyes, and those long velvety ears??

We know we can't resist it here!!

Aside from their obvious cute-factor, one of the other reasons we love Basset Hounds so much are their unique personalities!

Basset Hounds are a very devoted and intelligent breed, as well as a STUBBORN breed.

Because of their intelligence & persuasive behavior, people often joke that the dog is training them! Be forewarned, they’re not always joking; the dog is making mental notes of your behavior for next time.

And a Basset's sense of smell is amazing, second only to the Bloodhound! Seems they can smell dinner across the acres around here! For this reason, even a well-behaved Basset Hound can easily get distracted by tracking a scent & wander off, so keep track of your Hounds!

Our Bassets are also our family members, enjoying the comforts inside our home right along with us! We believe this is as it should be, breeding or not. All puppies purchased through our website are covered with at least a 30-day health guarantee by the Dog Breeder. If you have questions about what is covered, please view the Law associated with your state.

Within ten days of purchasing your new puppy, you must take him/her to a licensed veterinarian for an examination. If the veterinarian determines, within ten days of purchase, that your dog is clinically ill or has died from an injury sustained or illness likely to have been contracted on or before the date of sale and delivery, you have the following options:

Retain the dog and receive reimbursement for reasonable veterinary fees, not exceeding the purchase price.

Return the dog for a complete refund.

Return the dog for a replacement dog of equal value.

These options do not apply where a seller, who has provided a health certificate issued by a veterinarian, discloses in writing at the time of sale the health problem for which the buyer later seeks to return the dog.

If within 30 days of purchase, a licensed veterinarian determines that your dog has a congenital or hereditary defect which adversely affects the animal’s health or that your dog died from a congenital or hereditary defect, you have the same option as outlined above.

You must notify the seller of the examining veterinarian’s name, address & phone number within two days of the vet’s certification of your dog’s illness. Failure to notify the seller within two business days will result in forfeiture of rights. Each state has different laws related to the sale of a puppy; please educate yourself on the laws in the state which you purchase your puppy.

Each state in the U.S. has different guidelines in regards to guaranteed health for sold puppies. For states that do not have a mandatory health guarantee in place, any breeder advertising through our site is expected to cover the health of their puppies for at least 30 days. In the event that a state guideline is in place offering a guarantee longer than 30 days, that law holds precedence.

*Some breeders offer extended guarantees on their puppies. It is not legal for a breeder to offer a health guarantee that is not at least equal to state law. For a more detailed description of extended genetic health guarantees, read below.

Extended Genetic Health Guarantees (when offered)

An additional guarantee specifically covering any disease or illness that is proven to be of a genetic origin through proper veterinary examination and testing.

These guarantees do not cover normal veterinary costs incurred while providing general care for the puppy.

Proper documentation must be provided to the breeder before any compensation being paid.

This guarantee does not cover any costs incurred related to injuries caused by owner negligence or accidental injury.

Basset Love. It's a real thing. It all started for us in 2008 when we purchased our first basset, Maxie. With her long , long ears and droopy eyes we fell in love immediately. Bubba followed shortly, and Porch Sittin' Hounds was born!

Ellie , Max and Aggie soon followed... Basset Hounds are like potato chips, you can't have just one! We live on an 80 acre farm in southwest Missouri where our puppies get to experience farm life and the outdoors. They share their space with children, cows, horses, and chickens. They are very well rounded European American Basset Hound puppies!

Pickup is definitely an option. We accept pickup for those who would love to come get their basset hound puppies by themselves. We highly encourage it since it is a very nice way to get to know the new owners of our pups more. A reservation deposit is required and pickup of all puppies are accepted on weekends only.

DELIVERY OF PUPS
If in case you are unable to come for pickup, we can deliver to your location. Doesn’t matter if you are in a different state since we ship to all states in the US and Canada. The shipping fee varies, depending on where you are located but it is estimated to cost around $150 to $200.

Basset hound puppies are perfect for families as they are friendly, sweet, and give such unconditional love. Basset hounds are better with canine buddy, so we are asking that the new home to have a canine already, or purchase 2. But we know sometimes a person just wants a companion that is home all the time and that is fine. Basset hounds do not like to be by themselves.

At first a basset hound puppy is very clumsy due to their long droopy ears. When you walk them they will step on them and fall. You also need to be careful if your home has steps or stairs. Puppy proofing your home is a great idea before they enter into your family.
We have found bassets are very mouthy dogs, as they will even eat your laundry.
Keep in mind that socks, small items, and trash are very dangerous!
Keep electrical cords out of reach!
Due to their short legs, they are not good swimmers.

Please keep in mind that they cannot eat chocolate, grapes, raisins, large doses of garlic or onions, and peanut butter with xylitol.

Puppies eat alot and should be fed 3 times a day, but as they grow you need to monitor their eating habits so they do not get obese and have that strain on their long back.
Bred to follow prey, your basset will follow an interesting scent, and once their nose is down, they are not very aware of their surroundings. We recommend you exercise your basset on a leash with a harness not a collar so he/she won’t get cherry eye(s).
It is best to provide a fenced yard for the safety of your basset.
As far as grooming, they will need regular baths, ear care, and nail maintenance.

They can be a bit lazy and stubborn as they age, but they are trainable.
I believe their personality comes from their upbringing, love & the environment around them.

All of our puppies are registered with the AKC (American stud book). They are identified (via an electronic chip) and vaccinated before leaving the breeding kennel at eleven weeks old. They are socialised with the greatest possible care. All dogs have a DNA card that enables their origins to be certified.

EXPORTATION / TRANSPORT
Puppies for export in USA and non-American states

We apply an export tax refund for USA. For NON-US states, we take care of all administrative procedures, notably customs administration.

Each puppy is provided with an export pedigree and an American passport.
Your puppy will be collected and transported from the breeding kennel via the airport

It was not easy at first since we always loved to meet the new owners of our puppies before letting them go. After putting in much time and effort to raise them, I always wanted to ensure I would choose the right person who would take care of the pups just as good as we did or maybe even better.
