Good Morning everyone, we are going to change the name of the page by adding the word dog.
To DOG PAWS AND CUDDLES the reason for this change is so that anyone searching for a page about dogs will find us easier as that is the first word they would use.
The change doesn’t affect the page please carry on as usual posting pics of your dogs and the wonderful comments you share.
Any pics of cats are still welcome of course but we are primarily a group for dog lovers.
We thank you for your support

Hi Jean in reply to your question I have this which may help,
Sean McElherron is a Dog Behaviourist, Trainer and Managing Director of The Canny Company.
Sean has over 20 years experience working with dogs, especially the pullers, both in homes and with rescue centres and charities.
Recommendations for walking your dog during a coronavirus lockdown
Keep your dog on a leash.
Maintain social distancing of at least two metres between yourself and other dog walkers.
Limit any social contact - do not stop to chat, nor gather in groups.
Try to find walks that are less frequently used by other dog walkers.
Stay away from dog parks and other public areas.
Walks should be mainly to meet a dogs toileting needs and as short as possible to minimise time outdoors. Don’t stop to play games or throw a ball.
Reduce the number of walks you normally do, for example from three to two times a day.
Take your dog for a walk either very early in the morning or late at night when there is less chance of bumping into other dog walkers.
Take poo bags and a small bottle of water with washing up liquid to wash away any urine.
When you arrive home, clean your dog’s paws and tail with an antibacterial gel then wash your hands thoroughly. Bear in mind that frequent use of antibacterial hand gels will dry out our dogs paws so it is recommended that a paw butter or pad oil be used also.
Consider disinfecting your shoes or leave them at the door. Keep a pair of shoes outside the door, just for walking.

Coronavirus in dogs
Until further tests are carried out, there is no current evidence that pets can be infected with the new coronavirus or be carriers of the virus.
There is currently a dog in Hong Kong who has tested weakly positive for coronavirus. Though it isn’t yet confirmed whether this is environmental contamination through the dog’s nose and mouth or whether they have really been infected, which means the situation is still evolving.
It is always a good idea to wash your hands with soap and water after stroking your pets for protection against other bacteria such as E.coli and salmonella.
What is coronavirus?
Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that cause disease in animals.
Covid-19 is a new strain of the coronaviruses that, like seven other strains throughout history, is thought to have made the jump from animals to humans, though the exact source of this strain is still under investigation.
This virus can cause pneumonia, coughing, fever and difficulty with breathing and, in extreme cases, death.
If you have travelled abroad recently and feel unwell, contact the 111 online coronavirus service to find out what to do next.
Is it safe to put my dog in kennels?
There is no current evidence that pets or companion animals can be infected with the new coronavirus or be carriers of the virus. Kennels should make sure their kennels are always kept clean and hygienic. Normal handwashing precautions must always be observed.
Is it safe to let dog walkers take my dog out in groups?
The coronavirus outbreak is an evolving situation but if the dog walker is healthy and hasn’t been at risk of infection, the risk of spreading Covid-19 is likely to be low, as there is no current evidence that pets or companion animals can be infected with the new coronavirus or that dogs play a role in the spread of human disease.
However, as with people, if you become sick with the virus it is recommended to limit contact with pets and other animals and, where possible, have another member of your household care for them.
If you have sole responsibility for your dog while you are sick, the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) recommends you wash your hands with soap and water before and after contact with your pet and wear a facemask.
Can my dog go outside if I am self-isolating?
Yes, they are allowed out of the house – but have another member of your household walk your pet for you while you are self-isolating.

If you have no one to walk your dog, then they can’t go for a walk as you will need to self-quarantine, but they can go out in the garden for toilet breaks and, if you are well enough, you can keep them entertained within the home with some great indoor games for dogs.

It’s time for that monthly drama that you both dread. Trimming your dog's nails! The toenail clippers come out and your dog makes a beeline for the crate to hide and hope that maybe you will just lose your nerve. He is trembling and giving you the “Please no!” eyes. Your own anxiety starts to ...
