Blake has called PCAS his home for over 1000 days! Yes ONE THOUSAND DAYS! 😥 This is absolutely detrimental on a dogs behavior and a shelter is not for a dog to permanently live in. 🥺 Blake needs to be in a home that he can receive love and attention. 😔 Blake is such a wonderful boy, and deserves a second chance to a new life. Along with my heart being extremely heavy over the sickness of my personal animals, I’m struggling to continue to pay off my rescue medical bills.
I am begging my supports to help if you can❤️

I still owe a little over $900 at our primary vet.
And I still have a handful of kiddos I have to vet in order to send to partnering rescues 🥲
I will only be accepting donations by calling them in to the office at 304-525-8387

Although I haven’t been doing many adoptions, this doesn’t mean I haven’t spent every waking hour at the vet for some medical necessity. I’ve sent 50+ cats to neighboring rescues, but to do that they need things like:
Health Certificates, rabies vaccines, antibiotics, FVRCP vaccines, combo testing, dewormer, flea medication, basic care items like food & litter, and spay/neuters. I’ve had cats that have had eye surgery, tail amputations, and so much more.

On May 11th I was at work, scrolling through Facebook when I came across a photo of a sick little kitten. I don’t know what happened, but I just knew I needed to have her. I got ahold of the shelter and officially adopted her, having a friend drop her off to me at work. Within minutes she was mine. From the first second, she was just constant love. She purred no matter what and she just wanted to snuggle as close to me as possible.
I named her Poppy and for the past few weeks I showered her with endless love. I was so obsessed with her. I couldn’t get enough. I spent a lot of time with her alone because she had to be separated from my other cats until she finished her vaccines.

She spent all day at the vet yesterday, where she tested positive for FeLV.
To say I’m crushed is an understatement. I spent all evening laying with her, hoping that it was a false positive since she’s only about 4 months old.
Unfortunately, we went to send off a PCR test today and her little body was suffering. I had to make the heart-shattering decision to let her go peacefully. She purred and purred as I said goodbye.

I still don’t know why she was so special to me, but I will never ever forget her. I’ve never loved a cat like I loved Poppy girl. I know this decision was what was best for her, but I truly don’t think I’ve felt this sadness since I lost my Rory girl.

Sid is looking for her furever home!!!! She is about a year old tabby girl, who loves her foster siblings and LOVES DOGS!! If you have a dog that needs a good kitty friend, Sid is your girl!! She loves to lounge around and wrestle with her friends. She’s a very quiet and easy going girl.

Sid is fully vetted and ready for adoption asap. She had an eye injury as a kitten, resulting in the removal of her 3rd eyelid. This doesn’t slow her down at all, only makes her that much more special!!!!

WILMA IS LOOKING FOR HER FUREVER HOME!!!!!!

Wilma (previously know as Clementine) was adopted a few years back, but unfortunately her owner’s were too allergic to keep her. She was returned to Sweet Little Hippie Paws and we’ve been working to learn her personality, likes and dislikes, so we can find her the purfect home!!

About Wilma: she would do best in a home without other pets, especially other cats. She isn’t aggressive, she just does not like the attention of any other housemates. She is a very very loving and attention seeking girl. She loves to lay on your lap or lounge on the couch with you. She’s a really laid back girl and would make someone a really great companion.

❤️ seeking a special needs foster for Sienna ❤️

This is sienna! She is approximately 8 weeks old. She’s so so loving and a vocal little girl. She’s super nosey & loves other cats. She’s not afraid of dogs either, but i’d be cautious around big or active dogs as she’s a slow mover and can’t defend herself adequately. I am fostering her for another rescue while she awaits her veterinary consult.

SIENNA IS HANDICAPPED. I leave for vacation Friday, so sienna needs a foster home who can give her all the love and attention while I’m gone and/or until she is seen by a specialist for her little legs.

Sienna’s back legs were apparently crushed either in the womb, or shortly after she arrived earth-side. And by crushed I mean shattered. She has very very little use of her back legs. I have gotten her 99% puppy-pad trained, so accidents are very minimal. She can’t climb into a normal litterbox just yet.

Please share & message me if interested!!!!! Foster must be close to cross lanes so when her appointment arrives she can be transported there asap!!

Hi friends, it’s been a minute,

Although I’m currently not doing any adoptions, I’m still doing a lot of fostering for other rescues or until I can find a rescue. Mainly doing bottle babies & lactating mommas, and we’re in DESPERATE need of a few things if you feel like donating to help us!
We are completely out of puppy pads & wipes. I like to keep things EXTRA clean when I have tiny babies around, so I use Clorox wipes excessively before hitting it with my Rescue wipes. Lots of babies means lots of puppy pads too!
We’re also running low on wet food. It’s so important for lactating mommas to get enough hydration, so they’re given lots and lots of wet food to help produce a lot of milk! It’s also important for kittens during the weaning period!

I’m not sure why I thought I’d have a normal vet visit considering my track record and horrible luck..
Please please please pray or whatever you feel comfortable doing for my Nellie Jane. My sweet sweet girl. March 29th we’ll go for a surgery to remove the mass and send it off for a biopsy. I will do whatever it takes to care for my baby girl. There is NOTHING I won’t do to save her. I’m super super sad that our summer will start with very little adventures, but if this means we can prevent future issues with the C word, I’ll do whatever I can.

But unfortunately in doing that, I must officially put Sweet Little Hippie Paws on a long pause. I told myself from the start I would never allow my rescue to negatively affect my personal kids. It’s all pointless if that happens. So, from this moment forward, I will no longer be doing cat rescue. I don’t mind one bit to be a resource of social media for anyone who needs it. Feel free to reach out for help & I’ll do my best to find someone to help you. If you need transport, feel free to reach out as well! I’ll never be able to completely step away from those who need me, but I cannot fork out thousands of dollars a month anymore. I must spend the next couple of months focusing on my only girl. My best girl.

Thank you for the past couple years of constant support. I love you all and when I do decide to jump back into rescue, I know it’ll be better than ever. I’m going to take this time to capitalize on some opportunities to better myself and my rescue for the future. I still have a lot of foster kitties that will potentially be up for adoption, but at the moment my main focus is my dog.

This is also a PSA to take your animals to the vet REGULARLY!!!!!! Both Rory, Ted & now Nellie have all been caught super early in their diagnosis and I’m grateful that I listen to my gut and take them in when I suspect something to be off.

It’s not like kitten season ever really ends anymore, BUT if you see an outdoor cat without an ear tip please try to get it fixed!!! & if you need help REACH OUT ASAP. Most rescues are full to the brim so the longer you wait the less likely you are to receive help.

These babies are so sick and would likely not make it much longer. I can’t even promise that they’ll make it now, with help. They’re extremely dehydrated, full of fleas & ear mites & probably about 6 weeks old if that.

But they are safe, dry & we’ll give it our best shot!
