Violet was born the runt of the litter. She is a female malamute born on December 15, 2023. As you can see in the video, she has difficulty using her rear legs. She has been seen by a general practice veterinarian and her x-rays have been examined by an orthopedic surgeon. The orthopedist could not find any defect and believes that an assessment by a neurologist would be the next step.
Violet has a challenging road ahead, but we are hoping that with your help, we can provide all the medical care she needs to get well.

Fern is a blue, 5-year old Lop/Lionhead mix. He is confident and loves cats and gets along well with dogs who can get along with rabbits. Please remember that rabbits are a common prey animal so not all dogs will do well interacting with a rabbit. Fern loves to explore and climb the cat tree. He likes pets on his terms and has yet to show any kind of fear induced aggression so will do well with kids old enough to handle him properly. Fern has won our hearts quickly and will do the same in his furever home.
Fern is playing with Arden, who is available for adoption too.

Raleigh eyes have gone down considerably over the past month with medication. MuShi (not available for adoption) is so tender and sweet to him. FYI, they only have supervised visits. Watching him play, you wouldn’t know there was anything wrong…until he runs into a chair leg, but that’s only during zoomies when he’s not paying as much attention. Loves dogs and cats and purrs as soon as you touch him! Will go for another vet evaluation and neuter soon.

Churu time! 😻 Churu is a treat often used to earn trust, which is what her foster mom is doing. Melody is scared to be touched. With Churu, a few steathly pets can be gotten in. She hangs out nearby but will run if you appear to reach out for her. Melody will need a home where she will can chill and feel safe and given a lot of patience. She would love a kitty friend to play with. Ignores the dogs.

🐾🐾 WELCOME TO LCAR 🐾🐾
Once again, Orangeburg Animal Control and Shelter reached out for another medical case. This time it was a sweet kitten with ruptured eyes.
Raleigh was transported to us and was started on medicated eye drops. They have gone down over the past few days. He is no longer in any pain. At this time we are not sure if one or both of his eyes will need to be removed. It is doubtful that eyesight will return. Even if it doesn't, he has adjusted quite well. He can tell where things are by sound. His purrs are loud and rumbly. Enjoys belly rubs, skin skritches, toys, and laps. Raleigh is figuring out how to play with a 65lb dog (supervised visits). There are older cats at his foster home who he wants to play with too. He will need a home that will be kept orderly so he can easily navigate it.
