Animeow Control We are a 501c3 in MN, USA. We're cat rescuers in the Twin Cities (MN, USA) area. Primarily TNR which means trap, neuter/spay, vaccinate and return.

Our Motto: "There's a fix for that!"

TNR (trap/spay-neuter/vaccinate/return) helps control the homeless cat population; spay/neuter reduces behaviors like spraying, fighting, wandering and noise; and has great health benefits! This manages a healthier/happier stray population, and makes for happier neighbors.

Today, we drove 13 unsocialized cats to Wisconsin for spay/neuter. As always, both the coffee shop and thrift store did not disappoint.

The new family is decompressing and as we suspected, mom is friendly! She and her kittens are underweight but (knock on wood) healthy. The kittens should socialize quickly, and mom is settling down now that she knows she and her kits are safe.

No names yet.

It absolutely astounds me that kittens Manhattan and Old-Fashioned are still available for adoption. They are extremely friendly, adorable, respectful, funny, and loving little boys.

Beyond exhausted. It has been non-stop emergencies the last few days.

This is Finna. She loves both people and cats, and is an absolute love. About 6-8 months old, spayed, vaccinated, and available for adoption.

I was sobbing about this girl last night. There was nothing I could do. STOP USING POISON. It doesn't just hurt your intended target.

The collateral damage isn't just the animals who might ALSO eat the poison. It also kills anything that eats the poisoned rodents, such as cats, foxes, and birds of prey.

Rest in peace, kids. You were failed by humans in terrible ways.

Bella, the cat caught in a car engine last October, let me see her for the first time today since her recovery. She has always associated me with the pain and surgeries, and hides every time I visit. That's ok, she loves her mew family and she doesn't need to like me. We rescue them for them, not us.

But it was really, really nice seeing her 😺😻

In the past 2 weeks: 15 cats spayed/neutered, 3 adopted, 5 transferred to foster-based rescues, 8 trapped, 3 hoarder cats rescued, a dozen other adventures, and tonight this baby who is feeling warm for the first time in his life (blankie is even HEATED!). A perfect Thanksgiving for this floofy family and they'll never know the significance. 😺

Fosters save lives. Thank you, Jen ❤️🤩

I've been suffering from pneumonia and tomorrow is Thanksgiving but that doesn't mean we leave these kids out in the cold. 3 five(?) week old babies and their mom. Trapped them this afternoon, thanks to a kind woman who didn't want them sleeping/dying outside. One kitten already disappeared, let's get a good outcome for the rest.

EVERYWHERE.

As if it were one county. 😩

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - One Webster County town is currently facing a growing cat crisis.

The small town of Dixon, Kentucky is grappling with a significant cat overpopulation problem.

“I know that spay/neutering in cat populations is a problem everywhere,” said Webster County veterinarian, Mitsi Bennett. “I realize that, but it seems like in this county it’s really bad, and I’m tired of that.”

The absence of a local animal shelter and the limitation of animal control services has left the county’s feline residents vulnerable to neglect and abuse.

“Whether its drowning, throwing them out the cars, poisoning, I got so many cats,” said one Dixon resident. “I don’t know what to do with them, I’m just going to poison them or my neighbor is starting to shoot them. We’ve had even worse calls than that.”

Dr. Bennett of Bennett Veterinary is the sole veterinarian in the county. Dixons has been overwhelmed with calls about mistreated and abandoned cats.

“They’re disturbing and as a vet who took an oath to help animals, its highly disturbing,” said Dr. Bennett.

The clinic often serves as a last resort for these animals, providing essential care and temporary shelter.

To proactively address the root of the problem Dr. Bennett has proposed a free spay and neuter service, requiring only a nominal fee for a mandatory rabies vaccine.

Despite the urgency of the situation, the county has denied the proposal.

“Knowing that I’m trying to help them, and they just denied it. It made me ashamed to live in this county for as long as I have and ashamed to work in this county. It just made me really angry and ashamed that I can’t do more.”

Dr. Bennett says her proposal aims to curtail the number of unwanted kittens, reducing instances of animal cruelty and improving overall community welfare.

“I’m just asking people if they have cats to get them spayed or neutered, so they won’t have an over pet population,” said Dr. Bennett.

As the cat population continues to surge, the demand for a comprehensive solution grows more pressing.

Dixon residents are hopeful that the county will acknowledge the severity of the issue and implement Dr. Bennet’s proposed solution.

Update: a bunch of rescuers put our heads together, and those who went out were able to catch her! She is NOT feral, she needs rescue placement!

een asked by rescuers to help get this one tomorrow as she's eluded them so far. This is going to need to be another creative save, like and the table trap. Or any track stars want to try their hand chasing down a wobbly cat? Asking for a friend.

Level of difficulty: I have a carload of cats coming back from spay/neuter at 830am that need returning to their rescuers all day. Meep!

Something we do often that we don't talk about often enough is triage.

This foster cat for another entity was assumed lost, but was trapped behind a cabinet for 5 days, with no food or water, unable to move.

When he was found he was in rough condition, but it was also a holiday. No one was available to help, and the only open vets were ER.

We were terribly ill with the flu, but we looked at each other and said, "save the kitty." So we drove 30 miles to stabilize and help give this cat the best outcome we could. And we masked up to help prevent spreading The Ick to the foster and the other rescuer.

(Pretty sure he was later adopted by his foster 😁).

A "family" didn't fix their cats and let them breed out of control. Their way to "fix" this was to dump the "ugly" cats outside as time went on. Unfortunately this year 4 year old(?) Eeyore was deemed "ugly" and dumped outside right before winter, with a massive ear infection caused by uncontrolled mites. (We hope the "pretty" cats left behind receive vet care, as the "ugly" ones certainly don't).

A neighbor who fortunately wasn't a cruel monster took in his 4 "ugly" sister-aunt-cousins to get them into rescue, but Eeyore here was odd-man-out again, so independent rescuer Alecia got him off the streets and started treating his ear.

This Sunday, due to partnerships and teamwork, we took in Eeyore (and 4 others) to get him neutered and into rescue. He deserves a GOOD family to love up on him and tell him how handsome he is.
