Dehydrated Chicken Feet
or Pinatuyong Paa ng Manok
Many of us have likely received the well-intentioned advice to avoid giving chicken bones to dogs. While this advice holds true for cooked, boiled, or fried chicken bones due to the risk of them becoming hard and splintering, it's only partially correct. Raw or dehydrated (dried) chicken bones, on the other hand, are considered safe. Unlike their cooked counterparts, their texture is softer and more brittle. When chewed, they crush rather than break into sharp splinters, making them fully digestible for dogs.
Chicken feet, comprising mostly skin, connective tissue, and cartilage with some tiny bones, are easily digestible. Their nails can be clipped if you feel uneasy about them. It's important to differentiate between the risks associated with cooked and raw/dehydrated chicken bones for the safety and well-being of our canine companions.
