hiya, groovy family!
we had some pomacea diffusa (formerly known as pomacea bridgesii) hatch out yesterday in the 36gal bowfront snail tank!
these guys are often referred to as “ivory,” and the chestnut dubbed “albino,” which is actually incorrect! albino means lacking pigmentation, thus the foot and periostracum (outer layer of the shell that holds most of the color!) would be lacking in color, giving us that pearly white color on those shells! it’s very common to see a slight amount of gray around the middle of the spiral, especially since the shell color is so light. a super neat thing about these guys, due to their brilliant color, or lack thereof, if fed very brightly colored foods, such as blood worms, the contents of the stomach may become visible from just a glance at the shell. others have also seen heartbeats! 
we are now sitting on over 100 snails of our personal collection, including these youngin’s! stay tuned to watch them grow and learn more about my favorite freshwater gastropods!🥰
