He’s here! Andrew William Jarrett was born the morning of August 15th! Dr. Leslie, baby and family are doing well and enjoying the newborn snuggles!

Officially on maternity leave but feel free to reach out if you have questions or need referrals. I will start scheduling routine clients in November/December and once everyone is caught up will take on new clients in 2024.

Thank you again for supporting my family during this special time!

Happy 4th of July!!!

Stay hydrated this week!!!

Horses - Add 1-2 Tbsp of salt (or electrolytes as indicated on box) to their feed, offer a bucket of flavored water alongside regular water (ex. mix water with some Gatorade, apple juice or a handful of sweet feed)

Dogs - keep walks to cooler times of day, if outside make sure they have plenty of shade, water with ice in it alongside regular water, small amount of flavored water (small amount keep in mind size of your dog)

IMPORTANT UPDATE: As you all have seen Dr. Leslie is expecting her third baby at the end of August. Her schedule is officially FULL through the arrival of this sweet baby. There is a waiting list started for cancellations if you do not have an appointment already scheduled over the next two months.

PLAN: Dr. Leslie will take September & October off for maternity leave and then will start seeing routine clients again in November/December. She hopes to start taking on new clients again after the first of the year.

THANK YOU all for continuing to keep Dr. Leslie & her baby safe during this pregnancy so she can continue caring for your amazing horses!

That NCSU Ruminant Team does amazing things!

MIRACLE WORKERS. Kaleidoscope the pregnant cow arrived at the NC State Veterinary Hospital on Dec. 8 because her owners were expecting a difficult birth. When the cow went into labor early Dec. 15, Dr. Jennifer Halleran and Dr. Blanca Camacho easily delivered her calf, but Kaleidoscope's uterus pr*****ed, and she collapsed as the medical team was moving her. After performing CPR, Halleran called in the anesthesia team to stabilize her. Moving the cow from where she collapsed to where they could repair her uterus required using a forklift. ❤️ Today, Kaleidoscope and her calf went home. ❤️ That Kaleidoscope survived with no long-term complications shows yet again how we excel. Thank you to our ruminant health team, anesthesia team, students, staff and clinicians. 👏👏👏

Getting “Fred” all straightened out before his owner heads off to college! GO PACK! Also, was an opportunity for the kids to meet some special horses. Charlotte had been to this farm as a baby during some vet calls…was fun revisiting with her! (Fun Fact: The Vet Tech holding Charlotte is now a Vet too! She works on literally all animals working at a zoo!)

TAU was one of my favorite classes during vet school (all hands-on learning with my favorite farm animals)! It's been an honor getting to teach the small ruminant labs this past year!

While an acute severe lameness is typically not fixed by chiropractic care...chiropractic care can still help your horse heal! The resulting compensation throughout the rest of the horse's body from the 'off' leg can be improved with chiropractic care!

I see this...As your horse's chiropractor I'm not going to be able to fix an abscess in your horse's hoof or strained tendon...but the lumbar twist and off hips from compensating...that I can do!

I have enjoyed teaching at the vet school this fall (teaching labs on sheep/goat handling and techniques). Some sweet dairy cows have also been enjoying the benefits of chiropractic care! Today, Charlotte and I took a trip up so she could see my alma mater…highlights were the cool skeletons and large dog head out front!

Chiropractic as the sun sets! Why am I a veterinary chiropractor? I get to use my hands to help animals feel better! When the spine is aligned, our bodies are able to heal themselves! Think proper nerve conduction, better circulation, improved range of motion, pain relief, greater flexibility and more! We all know our animals make us feel better through their companionship...so by helping animals feel better I get to help people too! Win win!

What do these three things have in common (other than being a few of my favorite things)? 4-H’ers in Kansas did a study on the benefits of chiropractic adjustments on farm animals! They presented their study this past weekend at an annual Science of Agriculture Challenge held at Kansas State.
