We want to send a big thank you to everyone who came and supported us today during our first open house! We were very touched by the great turnout and support! With your help we raised $800 for the Cambridge food bank!!
All photos have been emailed and prize winners have been contacted. All the pets did absolutely amazing for their pictures!
We are still accepting donations of food for the food bank until Christmas!
Welcome to Case of the Week Friday! In todays case, we are going to discuss how you can save yourself thousands of dollars!!!!!
As we are heading into our dental month, our cases coming up will be focused on dental health, starting with the all important and dreaded brushing of our pets teeth. You should be brushing your pets teeth every single day. Now this is not something that you grab a toothbrush and some vanilla mint flavoured toothpaste and its going to be a fun experience! This is something we need to ease our pets into slowly.
Step 1: Get them used to the toothpaste! The good thing is that the pet toothpastes are flavoured so treat it like a treat! Grab the toothpaste, get them excited, make them do a trick of some sort like you would for a cookie (sit, down, shake a paw, etc). and let them lick the toothpaste off your finger! Continue to do this daily for a week or two until they come running excited for their "treat". NOTE: the perfect time to do this is when you go to brush your own teeth in the bathroom. That way you are training them to come to the bathroom when you are brushing your teeth and they will start coming in and reminding you to brush theirs as well!
Step 2: Once they are used to the toothpaste, start rubbing it onto their gums with your finger. This gets them used to the sensation of having their mouth handled by you without the roughness of the bristles. Do this again for another 1-2 weeks until they are comfortable with that.
Step 3: Introduce the toothbrush. Now that you have them used to the toothpaste, they should be more tolerant of the brush being introduced because they are more willing to accept the brush if their reward is the toothpaste (which we trained in step 1 to be a reward like a cookie).
Brushing your teeth daily will save you thousands of dollars in the future!! Imagine if you did not brush your teeth everyday and then after 5-6 years you go to the dentist - you would need a lot of dental work d

Warning: this post may make your ears itchy! Welcome to Case of the Week Friday!
Can you find the ear mites in this video? We see ear mites most commonly in kittens (and sometimes puppies), however they are highly contagious so can be spread to other cats and dogs in the household. Did you know that ear mites are the second most common external parasite? Do you know the most common one??? -------------------> The flea.
By looking at the debris from the ear under the microscope we can look for ear mites as well as any signs of bacteria or yeast that may mean an underlying ear infection. The good news is that ear mites are easily treated with some topical medication!
Luckily - ear mites do not spread to humans! So if you're itching your ear right now it's most likely due to this post and not because of actual ear mites! ๐
Wishing you a mitey fine Friday!
