These boys were packed up and ready to go home. We had a good time at ASDR Blue Mountain Barkdown. Little Bolt ( who looks a lot like daddy Gunny) got 1st in Bred-By puppy 3-6 months. Gunny and Richter each got 2nd in their classes and moved up a level. Got to visit with friends and meet new folks too. Back, hips, knees, and ankles hurt but it was a good time 😊♥

As the weather warms up you might be tempted to shave or clip down your Australian Shepherd to keep them cool.

STEP AWAY FROM THE CLIPPERS!

Science has proven that double coated (guard or top coat and undercoat which is fluffy and soft) breeds should not be clipped down but should instead be kept throughly brushed to remove the dead undercoat. The undercoat is vital in keeping your Australian Shepherd warm in the winter AND cool in the summer. If you shave them, they’re unable to regulate their heat naturally which makes them more susceptible to heat stroke and sunburn to the skin.

Instead, grab a regular metal comb and “line comb” the dog to remove dead undercoat. Go slowly.. line by line down to the skin. This will help your dog keep itself cooler and reduce shedding in your home!

Little Hooka’s temperature dropped this morning and she wasn’t much interested in breakfast. She has just started a little nesting and panting and I am hoping for healthy happy daytime puppies 🙏😊❤️
