With warm weather coming on, don't forget hot pavement can blister your dog's paws. Please be safe rather than sorry!!

In this video, a man demonstrates how hot the ground can be during a day with only an air temperature of 80 degrees. Depending on what surface he measures, it ranges anywhere from 90-113 degrees!

I came across this group on my FB feed today. They are based out of my adopted hometown of Dallas, Texas. I have a special place in my heart for MWD's. They are every bit as much heroes as the soldiers they work with.

I admit that I might be a bit biased as most MWD's are German Shepherds & I am a committed GSD owner. I love the breed.

This is a noble & needed effort to help these dogs. Why dogs, you may ask? Why not? We each have our calling & ministry.

I am impressed with what I am reading on their page. I look forward to learning more about this work & supporting it. I would invite you to also take a look-see.

HB1580 will prohibit persons from chaining or tethering a dog under certain circumstances. The bill stipulates tethers meet certain requirements, provides conditions for which a person may confine a dog outside, requires access to water and shelter, provides shelter enclosure requirements, prohibits leaving a dog outside in certain weather conditions, prohibits certain cruel and inhumane actions and imposes penalties. Very powerful short film. We have become a 'throw away' society. Not only do we throw away & abandon pets when they become inconvenient, but it seems we do the same with children, friendships, our work, & even our relationship with God. A good New Year's resolution would be to change that. Start to cherish our relationships & follow through on our commitments. Re-dig the well of loyalty.

If everyone could see this, a lot less people would abandon their pets.
