💡 Today's Clinical Pearl: Post-Operative Analgesia in Dogs 🐾💊

Before sending patients home with gabapentin, pair it with an acute analgesic—gabapentin alone doesn’t add post-op pain relief when used with carprofen. Also, butorphanol isn’t enough for post-op pain in spays! Use multimodal analgesia when possible to ensure effective pain control.

⏳ CPR Myth Buster!

Myth: You should take the time to be sure there are no heartbeats before starting CPR.
Truth: We recommend stimulating first to see if there’s a response, then checking for breathing, and ONLY checking the airway if there’s no breathing and no response to stimulation.
