HOW MUCH DO YOU KNOW ABOUT YOUR PET'S EYES?
We've compiled 7 informative facts about 'cat eye vision' which will help you understand your pet better.🤓

1. Cat eyes can reveal their emotion: Wide pupils can be indicators of heightened emotions, such as excitement or fear. On the other hand a narrowed pupil is usually a sign of anger.

2. Range affects their vision: In comparison with humans, a cat's visual acuity tends to be anywhere from 20/100 to 20/200 (meaning that a cat needs to be at 20m to see what a human sees at 100 or 200m)

3. Near-focus: Cats struggle to focus at close distances as well (anything less than 30cm). That's where their whiskers come into play, which allow them to sense objects by contact.

4. Night vision: Their pupils open so wide that they let about five times more light than ours.

5. Cats are not completely colorblind as many may think: The colour they can distinguish best is blue while red & green are almost non distinguishable for them.

6. Cats Eyes Glow in Photographs?: This happens because cats have a layer of highly reflective cells called the 'tapetum lucidum' which reflects light outwards.

7. Cats Have a Third Eyelid: It's purpose is to provide extra protection and to redistribute tears over the cornea.

Although this is a dream-like situation, have you really ever wondered why do cats sleep so often?

According to research, on average young cats will sleep as much as 16 hours a day! and that number can grow up to 20 hours, as a cat becomes older. However, cat sleep is not the same as us humans. Three quarters of their sleep is what we may call "snoozing". In that state, cats can rest while being able to remain alert as most cat owners will have noticed🙃. The remaining quarter of their sleep's time is spent in "Deep sleep", something crucial for the health & regeneration of the body, cats and humans alike.

This sleeping habit is simply a result of a cat's evolution. Being natural hunters in the wild, energy needed to be conserved during meals to sustain hunting/chasing of their prey and that's how this was achieved.
