Good Saturday morning. Happy 1st Birthday to Nash, Dover, Winnie, Rose, Brynnley and Chaga! You are the six most special puppies in the world. There will never be another puppy that holds the Glamorgan Kennel and Labradors name. I remember that afternoon/evening/night like it was yesterday. You all brought so much joy into our home and I know you did the same when you arrived at your forever homes. Brynnley will be celebrating her birthday with her brother Dover on Sunday enjoying pupcakes. I hope all of you have a wonderful birthday filled with lots of play and treats and puppy kisses.

Several people have asked about what inspired me build my kennel around the name Glamorgan...It may not be easy to say at first, but I hope people will become familiar with it as I grow my business and look be on their puppies! I have included a couple of photos of Glamorgan the boat. Maybe in the future I'll be able to get a few shots of the farm in British Columbia. Thanks to my big sis sue for authoring this story for me.

The name Glamorgan comes from the ancestral home in Glamorganshire, Wales from which my great, great grandfather emigrated in the 1860s. He eventually ended up as a part of the Alaskan gold rush and did well enough to buy acreage on the Saanich Peninsula, just north of Victoria on Vancouver Island in Canada. Richard John named his farm Glamorgan Farm. The farm still exists today on Glamorgan Road with many of the buildings still intact. My father who was born in Victoria and grew up sailing, found the boat of his dreams, a Valiant 40 sailboat, when my parents moved west in 1986. My mom and dad named their new boat, “Glamorgan”. She was sailed year around for 30 years until my dad passed away. Many family memories were made aboard the SV Glamorgan and naming my new business Glamorgan is a tribute to the courage of my ancestors and to the memory of my Mom and Dad.

Well the final count is 7. It was a long process, Paige did great for a first time mom....she gave my nerves a run for my money...but in the end all is well. 2 Yellow males, followed by 3 black girls, followed by 2 black boys.Rjwn Paige resting on the couch with her mum!
