The majority of a newborn puppy's time is spent sleeping for the first few weeks. That's more than 22 hours a day, but sleep doesn't happen all at once. Pups will rest throughout the day and night, keeping warm with littermates and the mother's body heat. They sleep for a few hours at a time, then spend the rest of their time eating and being groomed by their mother.
