HELP NEEDED 🙏
Our shelter is currently facing a critical challenge. For the past few weeks, our foster guinea pig Bibi, has been battling a gynecological condition that required frequent vet trips. Bibi was recommended surgery when she was brought to the vet due to bleeding in her genitalia. We were quoted at least PHP 22,000 for surgery. Knowing the risks of surgery to a guinea pig, we sought out opinions from different vets. But all the veterinarians we sought second and third opinions from thought that surgery is the best medical management for Bibi's condition.
However, as a shelter who gives direct care to guinea pigs and have experiences with bringing guinea pigs to surgery, we also strongly believe that surgery might not always the best route for guinea pigs. We believe that palliative care can also be the best care option for guinea pigs with special needs. Therefore, after seeking opinions also from our adopters, we decided not to proceed with the surgery for now. Our decision is an informed one and one that has been prayed for.
Thankfully, Bibi is doing well so far. She did not have any bleeding again after finishing her antibiotics. But we are reaching out with humble hearts to ask for your support. Bibi's frequent vet trips were costly and we are now low on funds. (Just the vet trips alone costed over PHP 22,000 already.) We also have new fosters coming and we want to be prepared for their initial checkup with the vet too, if necessary.
Any amount will go a long way in helping us provide medical care, food, and a safe haven for the guinea pigs we foster. Your kindness will help us continue our mission to provide proper care for guinea pigs in need.
