So this is posted the following day, but Ginny got her chiro'd last night! It was such a good learning experince for both Ginny and myself. As much as I wish I would've gotten her done earlier, I am really glad I got it done now. I'll post the technical terms for you smarties, but I will give the whole appointment a quick and honest run down.
Before I give the run down, I just want to announce that I will have a handful of posts going up in the next couple days about what we did with out week! So make sure to be on the lookout for those!
So the thermography wasn't really eventful. She stood really great for the pictures, and she did great with out chiro's big block! I guess being werid with a mounting block does have some positives! Once we were done with the thermography as well as getting all our information into the system, she started her magic on Ginny!
She started by just simply feeling around and getting an idea on what needs to be done. The entire time, she was telling me what she was doing, and what was where. That made me feel a whole bunch more comfortable for sure! The first thing she did was work on her poll, this was the most eventful part of the whole appointment. Poor Ginny was so so senstive... This was the only part of the whole appointment that she struggled with. Everytime the chiropractor went to adjust her, even when she went to step back on her block, Ginny would start backing up. Throwing her head, and "rearing" (she wouldn't do so until she was out of our space and only came up about a foot of the ground). Which that is such a strange reaction for Ginny, so I could tell she was in some serious pain. Half way through, Ginny got a break. She already
started looking more comfortable and handling the situation so so so much better even after such a short time! The rest of the poll adjustment was pretty uneventful with minimum refusing. She said that was one of the most severe polls she has seen in a while so yet another reason I was so glad she got adjusted! The chiro did say she wasn't showing discomfort, it was only when she would put pressure on specific points. She also said that could've been caused from either a trauma (she hit her head on the trailer when someone else was unloading her a few years ago, which is where we are thinking it came from) or from pulling back.
Then she moved to Ginny's back. Ginny was already using her body so much better at this point. She was also so relaxed! Ginny really enjoyed having her back done. And she was only out in a few common spots. She stood like and angel for this, as it wasn't really uncomfortable for her. She was only out in two places in her withers, and three places in her back.
Finally, she moved to her legs. She only had to adjust one place which was her right front elbow. She said she had perfect legs which was super awesome!
Before leaving, she did a saddle check. I wanted to have my saddle checked that way if it wasn't ok, I wasn't causing further damage by using an ill fitted saddle. It took her seriously 60 seconds to check it. She said my saddle fit Ginny perfect, she followed up by saying she usually has stuff to say about a saddle so that was great to know!
I am so proud of how Ginny handled today, and in about 2/3 days she can go back into work as long as she is all comfortable. We will be keeping a close eye on her to make sure she stays comfortable, and we will possibly have a follow up in a month or two for a check on her poll. I will also be getting a theraputic poll piece for her halters to possibly further the "recovery".
Now for the part we have all been waiting for. The terminolgy on where she was out!

Overall, now I know where we need to improve with out work-outs, as well as the actions we have to take in order to keep her comfortable!
