Is There Any Sarcoid Tissue Left?
I get asked this A LOT. Hopefully this post will help.
Sarcoid tissue is often red, yellowish, moist, lumpy, seepy, bloody tissue. It's gross, and not normally how your horses skin should look. Sarcoid tissue is not an open wound of healthy tissue, it's a cross section of a parasitic tumor.
Healthy horse tissue is light pink, gray, or white. It's dry, it's not moist, seepy, or bloody, and it often has fur growing.
The first set of photos are examples of sarcoid tissue still present. The second set is showing what it looks like when all the sarcoid tissue is gone. Do you see the difference?
You'll keep applying paste if you see red, yellowish, moist, lumpy sarcoid tissue. You'll stop applying, when all the sarcoid tissue is gone.
