Originally from the sunny Puerto Rico, I’m now a 30-pound low rider with short legs, a big head and an even bigger personality. People always tell me how handsome I am, and I think they might be right!

Unfortunately, my journey to find my perfect family has been a bit bumpy. I came to New York in June and have been in foster care and boarding since then. I’m ready to settle down and find my place in a loving home.

I love being around people of all ages (including kids) and would be thrilled to be someone’s only constant companion. A home with someone who works from home or is retired would be ideal, as I crave attention and love.

I’m already house trained and up-to-date on my vaccinations & neutered, so I’m ready to start a new chapter.

“Wish” will be going to a 4 week board & train in upstate NY on June 3rd. It’ll be $3,400. He’s already been in a local boarding facility since 4/23/24 which has been draining our funds.

We are now trying to raise donations for this board & train. It’s the only other option for him since no one is willing to foster him. He wasn’t socialized from a 3 month old puppy so needs to be the only dog at this time.

With the board and train we hope he will learn to enjoy the company of other dogs along with learning basic commands and becoming the gentleman we know he can be 💚🙏🏻

Lovely girl Igloo came to Metropolitan Maltese Rescue from back in November and has proven to be a joy! While in foster care, Igloo had her medical needs met, and then happened to land her fur-ever family, who live just down the block from her foster home! When out on a walk, the two families happened to meet and it turned out the neighbors were grieving the loss of their dog and in the market for a new pup, and of course, who could resist this one! A love match happenstance.

Enjoy your lovely forever family and your cozy new “igloo”, Ms Igloo!

This Sunday I’ll be at the Uplands Farm Sanctuary in Cold Spring Harbor for their Family Picnic and Environmental Fair. I am working the NY Safe Haven Animal Rescue table. We have a pool/beach themed raffle basket and a couple of our current rescues will be there. It’s from 3-6! Stop by if you are going!

Qtip got adopted today! The Metropolitan Maltese Rescue got him a great home out east! I was lucky to be able to watch him for a couple of days. Reminded me of my old dog Bennie. ❤️❤️
