“Hello ROAR!

I wanted to update you on Sadie.
She’s making incredible progress. She’s a cat who doesn’t back down from conflict!  Once she was able to come out of her room, she gradually made it downstairs. Slow exposure to my other two cats was key, and for them as well.

This picture was taken today and is the first time these two have been so close and calm!

We have a house full of people and it’s fun to see how social Sadie is!  She’s absolutely adorable!  It’s wonderful to see her personality emerging.”

Meet Gelo (short for Michelangelo), the senior light grey and white tabby who’s basically the David of cats—if the statue of David were super sweet, affectionate, and liked to sit on your lap. Along with his brothers Raffy (Rafael) and Kevin, Gelo was a local surrender, but this guy is handling it like the true Renaissance gentleman he is.

Despite being a senior, Gelo hasn’t lost his playful streak—he’ll casually bat at a toy mouse like he’s sketching out the perfect design for cat toy architecture. If you adopt him, you’ll gain not just a cat, but a muse, a confidant, and a professional cuddle expert. Bonus: his brothers Kevin and Raffy are also available, so you could bring home an entire furry Renaissance dream team!

Meet Diesel 💙

Diesel is a pint-sized powerhouse from South Carolina with a name that’s way bigger than his 11 lb. body. At just two years old, this black Chihuahua mix is full of surprises—starting with his curly piggy tail, which wags with such enthusiasm it could probably generate electricity. ⚡️

Despite his tough name, Diesel’s favorite pastime is snuggling into a pile of blankets (preferably ones he’s stolen from you. When he’s not ruling the couch, Diesel is an expert at zoomies, a connoisseur of treats, and a firm believer that all laps belong to him. Diesel is ready to bring big laughs and even bigger love to his future forever home. 🏡🤗

Meet Raffy (short for Rafael), a dashing senior black-and-white gentleman who’s as smooth as his namesake Renaissance painter. Raffy and his equally charming brother, Gelo (short for Michelangelo), were local surrenders, but don’t let that fool you—this guy is pure masterpiece material. At his age, Raffy knows what he wants: chin scratches, cozy naps, and someone to admire his tuxedo-like markings.

Raffy is super friendly and greets everyone like an old pal he hasn’t seen in years. Adopt Raffy, and you’ll be bringing home not just a cat but a walking, purring work of art who’ll fill your life with love and lots of fur.

“Hello!

He is doing fantastic! We did decide to change his name to Chester (like the Cheetos mascot) but he also has been responding to Mr. Cheese!

Chester is just the most snuggly boy. He LOVES to be all up in your personal space. There are no boundaries with this guy. But I love it! His favorite spot to nap is right up by my head or in between my partner and I.

He loves to play with dad (his favorite toys are the ones with a little guy attached to the end of a string on a stick) and then snuggle up to mom once he’s all tuckered out. He is so funny that way. And we taught him to sit before he gets fed or a treat!

We are so so grateful to have been chosen to be his new family. I couldn’t have asked for a better fur baby than Chester. We are truly obsessed with this little guy!

With all of the holiday celebrations over the next week, we thought it would be helpful to share what human foods are safe for your dog, along with what foods are not safe.

We know many families like to include their pets in their holiday celebrations (we do too!), but please make sure you're only feeding yourself the simple, basic foods from your meals that are safe for them to enjoy.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call your pet’s veterinarian. Please consider sharing with another pet parents so we can all make the most of our holiday celebrations.

Meet Kevin, the 11-year-old white fluffball who proves that being a senior cat is all about living your best life. Pick him up, and he’s all yours—this guy lives for cuddles. Thank you to Ridgefield Basketball Association - RBA Biddy Ball - for their recent donation to ROAR’s Pet Pantry. 🙏

One of the key staples of our shelter is our Pet Pantry which offers dog and cat food and other essential pet supplies to community members in need to help them care for their four legged family members. Now thanks to ’s help, our shelves are FULL and many dogs and cats will eat well throughout the holidays and into 2025! 🙌

ROAR's own Floppy was on hand to let the young basketball players know how grateful ROAR is for their help! 🐾

Floppy 🐶 is a two year old, male, 35lb mixed breed dog rescued from Puerto Rico and currently in search of his forever family. He's a happy, sweet, and kid friendly dog... just ask these Biddy Ballers.

We have had SO many cat adoptions in the past month that we only have one cat currently available for adoption! So while our cat room is pretty empty, we are so happy to see so many of our former residents home for the holidays (stay tuned for happy tails to spot how they’re doing in their new homes). ❄️ Thank you to everyone in our community and special shoutout to our cat adopters for helping our kitties find their forever homes!! ❤️

“Hi! Forester - now Bailey is doing great!! He was shy for the first couple of days, but now he is the cuddliest, happiest puppy! We go for walks and hikes almost every day, and he loves to chase sticks and tennis balls in the yard. 

He is so polite with our cat, Oreo - she is making the adjustment really well too. He doesn’t chase or scare her at all, he lets her know that she is in charge. 

We keep telling each other how lucky we are to have gotten such a good dog - Bailey is so smart, calm, and cuddly.
