Unpopular, hard to swallow, humbling truth that needs to be said.
If you buy fruits, vegetables & grains from the grocery store, you’re contributing to killing more rabbits a year than I do, for meat. It is estimated that the average number of field deaths is about 6 per acre, this is based off just harvesting deaths. That number does not reflect the farmers who trap, kill, poison and use dogs to protect their growing crops. Without a crop to take to market, the farmer does not get paid. So they will take any means necessary to protect their fields. Even worse, the rabbits that die so you can eat “guilt free” “no harm” meat free options, are wasted. No one, human, is eating the pests that are killed in fields.
This is a lifestyle I’ve chosen for myself, my family and share here to encourage many. Raising your own meat is the most SUSTAINABLE option you can make. Pointing a judgment finger at me for killing cute little rabbits while you rely on someone else to feed you?
Yeah, we aren’t on the same level…… and your finger is dirtier!
