Unpopular, hard to swallow, humbling truth that needs to be said.
If you buy fruits, vegetables & grains from the grocery store, you’re contributing to killing more rabbits a year than I do, for meat. It is estimated that the average number of field deaths is about 6 per acre, this is based off just harvesting deaths. That number does not reflect the farmers who trap, kill, poison and use dogs to protect their growing crops. Without a crop to take to market, the farmer does not get paid. So they will take any means necessary to protect their fields. Even worse, the rabbits that die so you can eat “guilt free” “no harm” meat free options, are wasted. No one, human, is eating the pests that are killed in fields.
This is a lifestyle I’ve chosen for myself, my family and share here to encourage many. Raising your own meat is the most SUSTAINABLE option you can make. Pointing a judgment finger at me for killing cute little rabbits while you rely on someone else to feed you?
Yeah, we aren’t on the same level…… and your finger is dirtier!

SLEEP AND YOUR RABBIT – Part 2️⃣

SLEEPING PATTERNS AND MOVEMENTS OF RABBITS.
Did you know your rabbit has a “sleep pattern” called Paradoxical sleep and that their body movements while sleeping are referred to as Atonic and Myoclonic movement?

WHAT IS PARADOXICAL SLEEP?
🛌Paradoxical sleep is the scientific term used to describe the way that a rabbit sleeps.
🛌A rabbit sleeps very deeply but is also is alert. They go into a state of REM but can wake up instantly. Their sleep pattern is referred to as a paradoxical sleep pattern.
🛌Rabbits do go into a deep sleep when they are napping.
🛌Rabbits also have dreams.
🛌You might notice rapid eye movement when your rabbit is sleeping.
🛌Rabbits always have their ears out listening to their surroundings and can wake up within seconds if they feel threatened.

WHAT IS ATONIC AND MYOCLONIC MOVEMENT?
🛌When rabbits are asleep, their bodies experience symptoms of atonic and myoclonic movement.
🛌When a rabbit experiences this type of sleeping it means that their bodies will seem to become more fluid and flexible (atonic) while sleeping.
🛌They will also experience the symptoms of rapid eye movement and involuntary jerking (myoclonic movements).
