Mia is a 4 year-old, 13lb Shih Tzu mix with a big personality wrapped in a petite, adorable package. She’s a girly girl with a touch of sass who loves her plushy toys, going for rides, and sporting her favourite hair bows.

Mia is cautious when meeting new people and may bark at first if she feels threatened, but with slow introductions and gentle patience, she warms up into a loving and loyal companion. She’s especially fond of nuzzling into your neck and giving little nose kisses once she trusts you. She has done well with kids aged 8 and 10 years old , and would do okay in a home with respectful kids.

She is house-trained and doing well with crate-training. She enjoys brushing sessions once she feels safe. While she may need coaxing on walks due to her skittish nature, she eventually settles in and enjoys exploring the outdoors.

Mia has a medium energy level and minimal separation anxiety, making her a well-rounded companion for someone with a calm, dog-savvy lifestyle. Her ideal family will have a quiet home and plenty of patience to help her continue blossoming.

Aurora is a gorgeous young Klee Kai–Pomeranian mix with a mini-husky look and striking blue and brown eyes. She’s smart, loyal, and full of happy energy. Aurora loves to be active and would thrive in a home where she can run, explore, and join in on adventures like hikes or playtime. She does well with other dogs and is social once she’s comfortable.

She has a playful, puppy-like personality and loves her toys, but she’s also very affectionate and enjoys being close to her people — cuddles included. Aurora can be a shy when meeting new people, but she warms up quickly and becomes very loving.

With routine, attention, and companionship (another dog would be a bonus), Aurora will make a fun, loyal, and sweet addition to the right home.

Found as a stray, Peanut is a sweet and happy young pup! Peanut can be a bit shy at first, but she warms up quickly and approaches new people in a neutral, happy way. She has done well with kids, and could go to a home with dog-savvy kids. She’s a social butterfly with other dogs - very playful and outgoing, however, Peanut is not cat-friendly, as her play interest can turn into chasing. She would thrive with regular exercise, walks, playtime, and fun outings. Once her energy is burned off, she’s happy to relax calmly with her family.

Peanut is a loving, playful, and affectionate young dog who will make a wonderful companion for an active home ready to help her continue growing into the confident dog she’s meant to be.

Pop Pop is that cool grandpa you hope to be like one day. He is well mannered in the kennel, walks great on the leash, takes directions well, and has been friendly with everyone he’s met. He’s got a youthful presence and has aged very well - but Pop Pop does also have a few bumps that show his age. He loves to interact and run around with other friendly dogs - and has a great give and take play style. Pop Pop would do best in a moderately active home that could provide at least one good walk each day. He is happy to accept affection and loves his people, but is good at keeping himself entertained with toys or a buddy.

Name: Pop Pop
Breed: Mixed Breed - Terrier mix
Age: ~10 years
Weight: ~41lb
S*x: Male, neutered
Colour: White and black
Medical: Dental with extractions due to severe dental disease; Sternum has four raised hairless areas of swelling. The pores in these areas are inflamed and enlarged. When the pores are squeezed cystic material comes out. Suspect benign cysts not of concern.

Good with kids 0-6: Yes, but has not lived with small children
Good with kids 7-15: Yes, but has not lived with children
When the dog meets new people he…Approaches happily/outgoing, Wants affection, Happy tail wag, Loose body language

Good with dogs: Yes, enjoys being around and playing with other dogs
What type(s) of dogs does this dog prefer/be best with? Pop Pop prefers other friendly / outgoing dogs who don't try to be overly dominant. He is happy to be submissive and let the other dog be the boss as long as it's all in good fun.
Good with Cats: Maybe. Pop Pop was cat tested on leash with the cats contained in their kennels. He was curious of and happy to meet them at the kennel - presenting with a loose body. The cats swatted and hissed, so Pop Pop happily backed away and wanted to leave the room.

Crate training: Enters crate with some coaxing, Settles after some barking/whining
House training: Almost perfectly house trained - about 90% there
Resource Guarding: None seen
Walks on a leash: Walks well

Chilli is fostered in the Burlington area. Apply to adopt at rebeldogrescue.com*All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website.

Meet Chilli! This sweet pup was found abandoned, tied to a bench at a park. He’s a sensitive, observant dog who prefers to take life at his own pace. For now, he is more “cat-like” in nature, as he chooses when to seek affection and does best with people who respect his boundaries. Once he feels safe, he enjoys quiet companionship - curling up nearby, following his people from room to room, and soaking up gentle pets on his own terms (especially during couch time). He would thrive in a calm, experienced home, ideally with another confident dog to show him the ropes. A fenced yard is important so he can safely burn off energy, as he may try to flee if startled. A quieter household suits him best right now.

Despite his cautious side, he’s a cheeky, intelligent, food-motivated pup who loves chewing, puzzle toys, frozen Kongs, and shredding cardboard. He learns routines quickly, picks up cues easily, and already knows a few basics like “lie down” and nose targeting. He’s curious, playful in his own way, and full of personality once you get to know him.

He’s still building confidence and can get nervous with pressure or overstimulation, so patience and understanding will go a long way. In the right home, he’ll make a deeply rewarding companion for someone who appreciates a dog that bonds quietly, but genuinely.

Name: Chilli
Breed: Shepherd mix
Age: ~7 months
Weight: ~30lb and growing
S*x: Male, neutered
Colour: Black
Medical: No concerns

Good with men: Fearful but warms up with time
Good with women: Fearful but warms up with time
Good with kids 0-6: Unknown, not tested - suggest no
Would you be comfortable placing this dog in a home with children? I wouldn't advise it as he is flighty and nervous around fast movement and kids are generally fast, loud and predictable. Even when he does get comfortable, he so far anyway still moves away / evades any approach with intent. When he does get comfortable and playful with his people - he does have a hard mouth and nips you along in play, it's a work in progress but needs balancing with fixing the behaviour while not affecting his positive outlook on people that children may not fully understand.
When the dog meets new people he...Will not approach, Shy, Tail tucked

Good with dogs: Yes, enjoys being around and playing with other dogs
How does this dog react to meeting new dogs? Fearful/nervous, Submissive
What type(s) of dogs does this dog prefer/be best with? He would benefit greatly from a happy go lucky confident adult dog that won't push him too hard in the beginning but can lead by example when meeting new people, going to new places etc.
Do you suggest this dog has another dog in the home? Yes, I think he would benefit greatly from the right mentor dog.
Good with Cats: Yes, lives with cats successfully

Crate training: Enters crate willingly, Settles after some barking/whining
House training: Almost perfectly house trained - about 90% there
Resource Guarding : None seen
Walks on a leash: Nervous and needs coaxing, but walks well. He walks beautifully currently in a natural heel position, possibly out of a desire to be near someone he knows for safety, however does much better when moving. He scans as he walks and can spook at noises etc however it's when you stop moving that he appears more nervous - his tail tucks and he may stop eating. Appears to do better when walked with my confident dog. He has been more consistently able to eat and do his easiest of cues, as well I was able to get mini bouts of play when in the field which is promising!

Energy level: Medium - enjoys regular exercise and adventures as well as relaxing calmly in the home. Currently I think there's a lot of mental brain busting going on as he walks and experiences new things so as he gains confidence, we may find his energy levels also increase. He LOVES to play and outplays me in the back garden, however can also overstimulate to barky/nippy play quickly - teenage brains! He does need help settling in the house - more from FOMO than anything else, but if crated / x penned and given a chew project, he will often fall asleep. Sleep is encouraged!

Areas to work on: Needs confidence building, Fearful of loud noises, Touch sensitivity

What type of environments would NOT be suitable for the dog? Condo/apartment, City

Any noted separation anxiety? FOMO when you first leave, some whining / crying. Quietens down when things calm, either you leave and the house is quiet or every settles in the room or in another room when he can't hear or see other commotion in the house.

Barker: Average, Dog can be vocal, but not necessarily barking - While playing - occasional spook bark at my partner when surprised. FOMO whines

‼️ Senior Dog Needs Our Help ‼️

➡️ We have been asked to help this super senior, but cannot intake without a committed foster or foster-to-adopt (adoption probation).
➡️ Our last senior pup took over 8-months to find a family for. If fostering, this may be a longer term commitment. Unfortunately seniors are often overlooked.

Meet Pop Pop!
10 years old / neutered / 41Lbs / full vet workup / rabies vaccinated / HW-

Pop Pop is that cool grandpa you hope to be like one day.

He is well mannered in the kennel (and very potty trained) / walks great on the leash / takes directions well / and has been friendly with everyone he’s met.

He’s got a youthful presence and has aged very well but Pop Pop does also have a few bumps that show his age.

During surgery we extracted quite a few teeth and other teeth have a degree of gingival recession.
There was also 4 raised hairless areas of swelling on his sternum that we squeezed cystic material out of. We suspect these are benign cysts and do not look of concern.

Pop Pop loves to interact and run around with other friendly dogs - and has a great give and take play style.

He would prefer to be dominant but was more than happy to let our Husky girl push him around a bit.
