PLACED WITH POUND HOUNDS RESCUE - PLEASE HONOR YOUR PLEDGES OR DONATE https://www.poundhoundsresq.org/donate

First we would like to state Mac has won over the volunteers for obvious reasons. Though he arrived skeletal with wounds, he is downright adorable and unique. His face endears the heart effortlessly! While it is clear he has survived hardship, his heart is pure and open. Sadly he contracted "suspected pneumonia" and heartlessly placed on the kill list. Max has allowed all handling, has not displayed resource guarding and often presents with a low wagging tail. This chocolaty marbled delight has a touching video for viewing. He warms up very quickly to people. He has been understandably timid and shaking at times and so deserving of comfort, security and love. As with most dogs, the shelter notes he is defensive around passing dogs while in his kennel which might explain his wounds that are now healing. Sadly he is at the Brooklyn ACC which translates to immediate death unless a foster or adopter rescues him. Please share this flyer to help save him. If you would like to foster or adopt this remarkably special youngster, please message us now, his time is up.

*A Little Bit About Me*
What my friends at ACC say about me:

My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!

It is unknown if I have ever lived with other animals or children.

I have been known to shower my favorite people in love!

I am looking for a home with a patient person.

Mac is in need of emergency placement due to behavior concerns. Mac has been deteriorating in care and not acclimating well in the care center. Mac has been observed to kennel fight with other dogs and leash biting and has been redirected onto staff. Medically, Mac has been diagnosed with CIRDC and suspected pneumonia.

Mac was surrendered to the BACC as a stray. In care, Mac has been kennel fighting with other dogs and beginning to leash bite with staff. Mac is not acclimating well to the shelter environment and has been deteriorating. Mac has redirected onto a staff member after Mac began to kennel fight with another dog onto a staff members hand, leaving a red mark and not breaking skin. Date of intake:: 10/23/2023

Summary:: shy, allowed all handling

Date of initial:: 10/23/2023

Summary:: Very tense, muzzled as a precaution, allowed all handling

ENERGY LEVEL:: We have no history on Mac so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. However, he will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm.

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: New Hope Only

Recommendations:: No children (under 13),Place with a New Hope partner

Recommendations comments:: No children (under 5): Due to Mac's anxiety and leash biting displayed in care, we recommend he goes to an adult-only home.

Place with a New Hope partner: Due to Mac's low threshold for arousal in care, we recommend he is placed with one of our New Hope Partners.

Potential challenges: :
Handling/touch sensitivity,
Fearful,
Bite history (human),
Anxiety,
Leash-biting
Low threshold for arousal

Potential challenges comments::

Handling/touch sensitivity/Fearful: Mac is a bit fearful during his assessment, we recommend he seeks affection on his own terms and is given a quiet home environment to acclimate in. See handout on Decompression Period and Handling/touch sensitivity.

Bite history (human): Mac redirected onto a staff members hand, leaving a red mark and not breaking skin.

Anxiety: Mac appears anxious during his assessment. We recommend long walks and puzzle toys to help alleviate his anxiety. See handout On Generalized Anxiety.

Leash-biting: Mac has started to bite on his leash when being taking out for walks in care. Positive reinforcement, force-free training is advised to teach him to focus on you rather than grabbing the leash.

Low threshold for arousal: Mac in care has displayed a low threshold for arousal and will need daily mental and physical stimulation and exercise, and force-free, positive reinforcement-based training may help him to learn impulse control and to train desirable behaviors that can be rewarded.

Bo arrived to MACC from a previous home. He is described as dog who enjoys car rides, playing in water, and curling up with a nice toy. Bo prefers to keep his toys to himself without company, and should enjoy them on his own. Bo may offer a warning growl if his toys are taken!
Bo is reported to display initial stranger danger, and may bark or growl before warming up. Bo is reported to not do well around children and has bitten the resident child in the home when approached by them. This bite was treated at home.

URGENT! Please share NAGAZI! Save a life!

Pound Hounds pulled Nagazi. Please honor your pledges here:https://www.poundhoundsresq.org/donate.

*** PRIORITY PLACEMENT – MEDICAL ***
Nagazi is the sweetest 8 month old puppy who arrived at the shelter as a stray, injured and with a bite wound of unknown origin. She is healing great, but needs a family asap who can provide her with 6 months of home isolation. (see notes below)

INTAKE DATE: 14-Oct-2023

Fearless, bold and kind are the words often used when describing Caucasian Shepherds, and Nagazi is no exception. She is a very sweet, brave, playful little puppy who loves attention, pets and snuggles and looks like a big fluffy bear. At only 8 months old, she is already 75 lbs.! This breed can stand up to 30” at the shoulder and weight up to 170 lbs. when grown, but they also can be a bit of a couch potato. Still, a family must be prepared for their size. They can also be droolers, so always make sure to have a towel on hand. They love to alert their family whenever a stranger is around, or a squirrel, or even the mailman, and can be protective of the people they love. They are big fluffballs when grown and need brushings to keep up with the shedding. Nagazi arrived at the shelter with some bite wounds of unknown origin, and though she is doing well, and healing nicely, she would love to have a family home so she can rest in comfort as she recovers. She earned herself a stellar LEVEL 2 rating and is good to go to a home with people who have some dog experience, and no kids under Age 5 she could possibly topple over. Please consider giving her a home. You can MESSAGE OUR PAGE for assistance.

The shelter writes:
“Hi there, my name is Nagazi. I arrived as a stray so the staff don’t know much about what my life was like before coming to ACC, but I had various injuries I am recovering from really well. I only require a little extra paperwork to be filled out and a few extra vet visits this year because one of my injuries was likely a bite wound that is healing. I’m thankful for everyone at the ACC taking such good care of me, but I think I’d like to find my forever home now. So what are you waiting for? Ask about me today!! I would do best in a home without very tiny humans, although I could be open to older children once I meet them.

What my friends at the ACC say about me:
I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. I love getting pets and --- you guessed it – snuggles.
