My favorite corner of the couch 🖤
We are the House of Gino & Co. - a 501(c)3 animal sanctuary specializing in senior companion care.

Inspired by the undeniable and life-altering impact our 9 lb, 16-year-old adoptee Gino has had on our lives, I started the House of Gino & Co., a 501(c)3 nonprofit animal sanctuary specializing in senior companion care. Tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains, our sanctuary provides a private, peaceful retreat for our residents, full of adventurous hikes, fresh air, spring water, and all the other be
nefits of life in the country. We currently have 17 (soon to be 19) dog residents ranging from 5 lb, quadriplegic Foxy Brown to 70 lb Julep, who was previously unable to find a permanent home due to being overly reactive towards humans. Additional residents are currently being monitored for epilepsy, collapsing tracheas, enlarged hearts, allergy conditions, chronic pancreatitis, behavioral issues, and mobility recovery. We have dogs that were saved from the meat trade in Korea, the streets of Miami and Costa Rica, hoarding situations, puppy mills, and euthanasia lists in kill shelters. Each day, we aspire to offer the comforts of a loving home to those who need a second (or third) chance at life. All of our residents are part of our family and receive the best care, from living within our home (most sleep in our bed or on our couch), to being provided top-notch, scientifically supported diets, visits from a well-practiced at-home vet, to medication and supplements as necessary, to full outdoor access, to specialized training. Each resident receives daily 1:1 care and attention, and new residents are integrated into the pack with the utmost care and skill. We are fortunate to work closely with several trusted shelters and rescues, each of whom are familiar with House of Gino’s pack dynamics. Typical adoptees come to us as a last resort — we take the dogs nobody else can accommodate (e.g., special needs, bonded pairs) or that have for whatever reason gone unadopted! And at House of Gino, each of these dogs finds their forever home! The opportunities here are endless and heartbreakingly beautiful. The difference we make in the daily lives of these dogs often brings us to tears. I always tell people that the moment I discovered true joy was the first time I saw one of our rescue dogs lay down in a comfortable bed, deeply sigh, and proceed to relax into the best sleep of his life. Each day, I make time to find gratitude for each of their lives and the ways they have allowed me, my family, and my community to understand the value of compassion and the true difference just a little bit of love can make. Ultimately, our mission at House of Gino is simple — to provide a loving home to all of our residents and fill their final chapter with joy, whether that’s green spaces to roam, a comfortable bed in which to rest, or a warm embrace and plenty of snuggles.

Last August, we took in Alfred to the vet to make a plan for his heartworms that we were aware of when we took him into our family and discovered a large mass in his spleen. The mass made the Heartworm procedures dangerous and the heartworms made the mass inoperable. For a year, we have kept him happy and as healthy as he can be with the help of our vets and some alternative options. We love this guy so much ❤️
On his way to steal your girl
My special girl, Foxy! She may not be able to walk, but she is full of love and enjoys the sunshine like everyone else ☀️
Honestly, Agnes could not be any cuter. She is still comfortable and happy living with her heart tumor - still full of kisses, wanting all the snacks and cuddles, keeping Gino and the others in line. We 🖤 you Miss Agnes 💋

My best friend 🥹 Happy 2 years to Gino joining our family. The stinkiest old man I’ve ever met - you have showed me so much about the meaning of life and love. Thank you to my little bean for being at the center of my universe and making ALL the rules. I love you ❤️
I keep trying to make a post about you, but every time I start to watch all of our videos, I know I am not ready yet. Losing you was so sudden - it made me realize how much space your quiet presence took up, how much I loved our daily routines, how much of my heart you had with you. I love you, Hodu. I am missing you deeply. Thank you for our year together, I will never forget you.🌸🌼🤍
Yesterday we got some news about Agnes that just about broke our hearts, especially after the sudden passing of our Hodu. Agnes was coughing so we took her in for some scans and tests - she has a very large mass on her heart. We adopted this sweet girl in February, after pulled her from a gas chamber in Louisiana, and we got a call that a little female Gino was going to come our way. She is the sweetest, sassiest old woman you’ve ever met and has completed our family.
This is the hardest part of what we do - taking in those that have been neglected, abused, abandoned and integrating them into our family, knowing whatever time we have together is borrowed and may be short. We will keep Agnes comfortable and happy for as long as she wants, and she will let us know when it is her time. She will spend every minute cuddled up to her siblings, her aunt and me with all of her favorite snacks on repeat.
We love this one-eyed girl with our whole hearts, and we will do what we do best; we will care for her and cherish every moment together.
We will be raising funds to cover the costs of Hodu’s end of life care and for Agnes to have the medical attention she needs. Thank you for your donations, kind wishes, and love during this heartbreaking time.
We love you, Hodu, always and forever. Thank you for letting us be your family, may you rest easy with John on the other side ❤️💔
The queen herself 👑💅
Hodu hopes you have a nice day
Julie Bear can’t stop for the photo for her bunny watch 🌸🌼
The best picture ever taken of the 400 yr old mole that’s about to tell me my past present & future [ Batman ]
The best part about taking this walk with them is every single time, it’s like the first time — like they are in complete disbelief with tails wagging and tongues out 💚 I can’t think of anything better.
Hodu update: he is happy, healthy, and has very nice manners 🎩
Lights of my life 💚

Gino IS a fairy and raising fairy funds for his brother Milo’s chemo this Valentine’s Day! 🩷❤️💕 #myvalentine #ilovemydog #seniordog #seniorrescue #adoptdontshop #dogsanctuary
If you’ve ever met Milo then you know a few things - he is the most happy-go-lucky little dude in the world, he is full of life (and attitude), and he has a lot of love to share! Milo was abandoned in Hurricane Harvey and after being rescued, joined our family over 6 years ago. Milo was recently diagnosed with adenocarcinoma (cancer in his anal sac) and finished a successful surgery for removal of the tumor a few weeks ago. Today, Milo has started his chemotherapy treatments and will continue to go every 3 weeks for an infusion for a total of 5 treatments at $800 each. With our outstanding vet bills still at $6k and having just paid our annual insurance ($4k), we are working hard to cover as many costs as we can while catching up from last year’s unforeseen medical expenses. Every little bit helps and we have been so fortunate at all of the generosity and love shown to our sanctuary family! Thank you for continuing to support the health and happiness of our residents! #f**kcancer #dogsanctuary #seniordogs #dogchemo #cancerdog #cancerdogsofinstagram #ilovemydog #seniordogsofinstagram #seniordogsanctuary #dogfundraiser #dogchemowarrior

Gino says — hey guys - we could use your help! With all of Alfred’s new bills and annual checkups for the littles, we are still $7,184 behind in vet payments. If we can make $3000 to pay them down, we will be in a much better place! Gino says THANK YOU bc he deserves all the very best care as do his 20 siblings! 💜
