Please forgive us, it’s been a while since we have shared! Thought you’d enjoy a Hi from Creed and his crew! We are doing good here, Mom had a major surgery she is still healing from and then of course a few days after she had it a hurricane hit- lucky us- but all is well and we are all still doing amazing. Hope everyone is doing great!
Creed’s Journey.
June 29, 2023. We loaded up to rescue him after seeing some of these pictures and reading threats that he would be shot for being “aggressive” and looking for food on the wrong land.
We had no plan. No money. No Rescue backing at the time. Actually,we had just lost 4 of our own pups in one year, the most recent being my husband’s heart dog just 2.5 weeks before.
Hubs found Creed hiding in the shade under a building. Creed walked past everyone with low growls as he did, but walked right up to me and put his head in my hand. Thank goodness Nicole was there because she spoke and said, “Nancy, you can slip a lead on him.” I was in complete shock at Creed’s behavior towards me. We leashed him, lead him with chicken nuggets to a trap, and loaded him up to bring him to our home.
Once to the house, there was no touching him, thankful for the slip lead he did atleast let me walk him- at a distance. Other than that he got a big crate which I pulled a bed next to and slept next to because I refused to let him be alone another minute. Poor guy felt awful you could see it. The next few days were touch and go. We rescued him on a Thursday, his first vet visit was Friday and that vet immediately recommended euthanasia. His tiny ears were swollen to the point you could not see the hole or skin because they were covered in ticks. He wouldn’t open his eyes anymore. He couldn’t stop drooling. He had a fever. He tested positive for heartworms. We asked for wormer, antibiotics, and whatever else we could start with but we told them we did not want to euthanize. Took him home and started searching for another vet to get him in.
Next vet also gave VERY grim prognosis BUT said, well, it will be long and hard but if you want to try- we start with blood work to check his organs, then we get his fever down and then we need to get food in him. We go from there. Lots of visits later. A LOT of almost goodbyes due to various reasons. He lost an eye due t

Stopped by for a quick hi! First visit since Honeybee moved out, she was super excited to see him although a bit confused on why he was so much bigger.
Creed, Oh, Creed
My goofy guy looooves the sunshine! There is no doubt in my mind that letting him share the birthday of my lost boys (April 22) was perfect because they loved to be out rolling in the grass and sunbathing too. I cannot believe his given birthday is so quickly approaching and I am so glad we made it here! To think, 10 months ago, it was hour to hour, day to day, week to week, month to month… even setting up quality of life/end of life appts- and now in ten days we will sing happy birthday and he will celebrate 10 YEARS OLD!!! I’ve cried all different types of tears for this chunky bubs of mine but the happy tears are my favorite 🥰 Thank you for being nothing short of amazing, Creed.
**** Adoption Alert ****
While we decided that even though she was such a sweet girl and we would love visitation rights and to have her visit us and our babies, we just knew she would be a better fit in another home- we weren’t wrong. Little did I know, how that home would be my Mom’s! She transitioned VERY quickly, even though some persistently wanted to tell me I was wrong from the jump (I have a gift for these things), her turn around was less than a week!
She is loving life, rolling around, running the yard, and napping with five new older furry family members, she is now the pup of the family. I am over the moon for her, and even more excited that she can come visit to see Creed and Atlas! Congrats Honeybee, Mom & Mom’s Hubs! Thank you Lola’s for giving her a place to land even though she ended up adopted before needing it! The relief of knowing she was going somewhere helped so much ❤️ I appreciate all of the support from our rescue friends that helped make my first true foster, a success!
Today, Honeybee decided to climb onto the recliner with me and cuddle. I got lots of kisses and wags before she relaxed and napped for about 6.5minutes. She has such a fun, sweet personality.
I highly encourage everyone to foster, atleast once. Remember, fostering takes patience, you never know what was endured before you came along to offer them the love they deserve. You can’t rush decompressing, some take days, most take a a couple weeks, some take months… Honey is still showing new personality traits and we are a couple months in 🤷🏻♀️ a lot of her changes have come with the addition of Atlas and even more when she realized “her name” was Honey and it was her we were referencing.
