Good morning everyone Lately, I’ve noticed many people on the search for a Maltese puppy. Amidst this search, it’s crucial to consider the source of where our pets come from.
Simply finding a registered dog doesn’t necessarily guarantee quality, health, or ethical breeding practices. Responsible breeding goes beyond just registration. Reputable breeders prioritize essential health testing, earn champion titles, and breed for specific reasons, aiming to improve the breed standard and maintain the health of future generations.
Moreover, reputable breeders offer lifetime breeder support and require that all dogs are spayed and neutered, preventing any dogs from ending up in shelters.
Unfortunately, there are various sources that do not prioritize the health and welfare of the animals they breed. Backyard breeders, pet stores (often linked to puppy mills), fake hobby breeders, and puppy farms may offer puppies at lower prices but often at a significant cost to their health and well-being in the long run.
Before welcoming a new furry friend into your family, take the time to research diligently and understand the responsibilities of pet ownership. If purchasing from a reputable breeder isn’t feasible due to financial constraints, consider adoption from shelters or reputable rescue organizations. Shelters are filled with wonderful pets waiting for their forever homes.
Many people say they just want a “pet,” but you still want your pet to look like a true Maltese and be healthy. Let’s come together to promote responsible pet ownership and ensure that all animals are treated with the care and respect they deserve.
