Rest easy sweet Elvis.
Elvis came to us from Kaufman Kill Pen. He was said to be a 4 year old ready to be halter broke Appaloosa. The videos showed a thin horse that needed some groceries, nothing that some good TLC and training wouldn’t help. A young horse that would live a wonderful and happy healthy life if given the chance.
Elvis arrived super skinny, super sick, one eye severely compromised, feral and we believe him to have been 2 to 3 years old. He had the nastiest cough, and was lethargic. We nearly lost him on the first day.
From the beginning he was such a gentle soul. I don’t know many feral 2 year olds that would let me put neomycin in their eye 3 times a day or scrub the rotten, p***y flesh from their face. He understood I was trying to help him.
He started to gain weight, he became lighter and brighter and this sweet and curious personality came out. Elvis was always so interested in what everyone else and everything was doing around the farm. And almost every time you’d come into his line of sight he would whinny at you. He would whinny and greet everyone that came to the farm. I will really miss him greeting me in the morning.
Even though Elvis had improved considerably since being here, unfortunately his condition was too poor and we could not save sweet Elvis.
At least during his time here he got a name, food, tlc and got to know he was loved.
God Bless and run free on green pastures, you will be missed sweet boy.
