These are primarily ground lessons for younger kiddos, and for students who could use some confidence building! 🐴

They are about 30-45 min. and $30 a session.

December training tip:

Let’s talk winter weather!

This does require the availability of a tractor, but if your heated hose broke, or you have troughs too far away from a thawed pump, then you can ratchet a trough to the tractor forks and fill troughs as pictured. 🐴❤️❄️❄️

Nov. training tip is not necessarily a tip, but an awareness that even after working with horses for over 20 years, there are still so many things I have to learn!

When this guy came to school here I immediately had to ask his owner....”what is this color called!?”

She said he is called a champagne, a color I have not been exposed to before and I learned something new that day! ❤️🐴

Oct. Training Tip:

We have had some questions regarding the theories on boots, and if they actually help or are a hindrance.

There are many credible articles out there on both sides, so if you feel like you are getting different opinions from trainers, do some research and then see what feels best for you and your horse, it is ultimately up to you two! 🐴❤️

It is unusual for behavioral modifications to take place quickly, however, we do offer two week tune-ups and transition lessons to help identify corrective actions, like for this guy!

We let the horse guide our adaptive practices and are open with communication to let you know if your horse can graduate early! 🐴❤️

We offer flexible schedule and pricing options if there is something we can assist with in under 30/60 days as well!

Sept. Training Tip:

If you have a horse that plays in the trough then we have found that building a set up outside the paddock helps prevent that! 🐴❤️

This risk here is that there is an alternative opening that could be a trigger for a spook or flight response to jump over, so make sure you and your horse find an option that will be respected and safe for them depending on their response.

The chicken rides every horse first that is being broke under saddle 🐓🐓

We use this instead of a dummy or sand tubes, and next we dangle it from the horn so it bounces back and forth, and flips side to side for extra stimulation. 🐴❤️

June Training Tip:

Sometimes we forgot how important it is to incorporate desensitization to vaccines training. 🐴

We use the knuckle bumps and minor pinching in the neck triangle area to help horses prepare for the process.

April training tip:

This month is not so much a tip but a new tool I just discovered, so forgive me if I was behind the time on this brand of soaker boot!

So much easier than my soaker hoof boots and the soaker bags! 🤦‍♀️🐴

Love this for icing as well as hoof care. I mix a bit of bigeloil with the ice and water after a strenuous session.

March Training Tip:

When your horse turns their haunches away from the mounting block, or any other step used to mount, correct with nonverbal cues only and avoid vocals.

Our frustration can actually amplify when we start verbally reprimanding, and then it turns into a battle of power.

Take deep breaths and stay patient, this can easily make the best of us frustrated during behavior modification training…🐴🥰
