Can you help us, help Rhondie. This girl is fighting for her life, and if she can just get a little stronger overnight she will have a splenectomy tomorrow.
Please donate if you can, and also share ❤

RHONDIE IS IN CRITICAL CONDITION TONIGHT-she needs us

❤️❤️❤️ Forever Foster Rhondie suffered the first 4 years of her life in a crate. She had litter after litter for a breeder. She was rescued by NEBTR and is happy and loved in her foster home. Earlier this week, she stopped eating and her belly began to swell. After many tests and vet visits, we find out that she has a tumor on her spleen. Is it CANCER? Most likely. If she is strong and stable enough, her spleen will be removed tomorrow. Please send this sweet but very anxious lady your good thoughts, prayers and love.

Please donate to Rhondie's medical care.

Happy 100th Birthday! Betty White is a legend that made us laugh and smile for decades. She was also an advocate for animals and devoted her life trying to improve their lives. She accomplished so much in her lifetime for dogs, cats and all animals. NEBTR is asking each of our amazing followers to donate $5.00 in Betty White’s name in honor of her work. We hope to help make her100th birthday the biggest animal rescue movement. A movement worthy of the great Betty White.

Dr. Marty Goldstein

One of the major reasons why my dogs have an excellent diet, an extremely good immune system and are super healthy is because many years ago I stumbled upon Holistic Care. My first holistic vets were Dr. Marty and Dr. Bob Goldstein (brothers). These brothers are excellent at what they do. They mostly do phone consultations or you can go visit them if you live in the area. When I was a new member of NEBTR and had to tackle a foster BT named Daisy with such severe skin issues, Dr. Bob gave me his all over the phone and I got that girl cured. Because I felt he was sincere and honest I asked him a more personal question... it was about that time my dad was diagnosed with Melanoma. His associate Dr. Vessels also was diagnosed and was treating himself. I spent over an hour getting info on what to use besides that evil Chemo. I ordered the products he was using and between me and a holistic vet, we put my dad in remission for two years. That's how much I believe in this type of practice. Afterwards, I cured 5 foster mange dogs and my own eczema with DIET and supplements. I then researched and secured a holistic vet close to me on Long Island. Now, I got a better one in North Carolina. They give us something extra off the medication grid and everyone should get a holistic vet in their hip pocket. Do it!!!!!

Dr. Marty is considered to be one of the foremost integrative veterinarian's combining elements of traditional medicine with nutrition, immune support and alternative treatments that have yielded miraculous results.

Let’s continue with home cooked. I’ve gotten so many requests for help on my basic recipe. I wish I can cook in your kitchen with you. I’m a book person and learned from so many experts but this one is my favorite. It was written by a DVM and I've read it cover to cover and approve. Get it on Amazon. Please read the introduction. It will explain how to make that introduction from commercial to homemade. It also covers how bad the dog industry is. It includes cat and dog diets and some you'll wish you cooked for yourself. Most important it covers special needs diets like health conditions. My go to for skin issues are Cabbage and Cucumber. My Liver detox is Dandelion and Milk Thistle. Go for it. You can do it. I'll respond to your message but keeping it up on the page is easier. Hugs Linda

I wanted to take an opportunity to send a shout out thank you to all the new people Liking my page. I just started it two weeks ago so be patient with me. Comments and messages are always welcome. I know the transition from kibble to home cooked (and raw) perhaps is overwhelming. Together we can do this and I promise, I'll give you all the tools I've learned over 30 years to master it. My sisters from Northeast Boston Terrier Rescue will help me introduce everything to you. I'll cover Holistic Vets, Raw food, Organ Meat (don't get scared), Skin Problems, Green Cleaning, what to use in your yard, etc., everything I've learned and educated myself with over the years. I grew up in NY with a lovely Italian mother and a spitfire Irish father who worked for the ASPCA before I was born. In my family, we never technically "bought" a dog from a breeder nor pet store. Every dog that came to our house was a rescue. My dad was a Marine in the Korean War yet he had this love for dogs and thats where his work continued afterwards. When my parents moved to Long Island my dad got a job at the Bide-A-Wee (a no kill shelter). When I was a youngster, I spent summers going to work with him cleaning dog cages and walking dogs. My mother would have liked me in frilly dresses but that was only on Easter Sunday. Hehe! My dad also groomed and boarded dogs at our home which when I was an adult, I took over that lucrative business. I got my golden grooming hands from him and learned so much. But there was more... That damn dog food industry... Why I asked him? It was created for the human convenience, not for the dog. Dogs used to eat off the land on farms and ate raw in the wild. What the hell happened!!! I went toe to toe with dad but in the end I showed him a thing or two. I lost him to Melanoma but I know he is proud of who I've become. It took me all this time to research and learn why kibble is just wrong. I did it with Holistic Vets years ago when no one knew who they were. I'm going to share so many stories with you all how I learned and this Page of mine will be like the book my mother who I'm still blessed to have has asked me to write so many times. Thank you all again for Liking my Page and I welcome you to learn and understand how ruthless that dog food industry is. Hugs Linda

Let’s move on to Cookies!

Just as bad as the dog food industry are the treats and cookies fed to our dogs. Check the ingredients. What is in them that constitutes a treat? What are the chemical preservatives that give them a shelf life. BHA & BHT are chemical preservatives. Pass on them. Treats are easy to make. Mine are made with all organic ingredients: Whole wheat flour, coconut flour, flax seeds, cinnamon, whole oats, carrots, bananas, apples, parsley and olive oil. I sell them to anyone from NC to NY. 20 for $10. plus shipping.

Hello everyone! Sending pictures of what all the ingredients look like while I’m cooking them. There’s no wrong or right here so no frets.

Please grab a glass of wine and enjoy the experience of preparing meals for your fur kids knowing they are going to be much happier, healthier and with bright beautiful shiny coats. Look in their eyes after a week of home cooking, they will tell you how good they feel.

Hugs Linda

I spent a week or so putting this page site together. It was worth my time.

First I'm going to share my home cooked recipes. I welcome my rescue friends to share theirs.

My Duke with Osteoarthritis was my inspiration for this recipe along with my three elderly dogs. If you have one dog or ten, of all different ages, I'll help you taylor something for them.

So here you go!

Pick your protein of choice. Chicken, Turkey, Beef, fish, whatever. Your ratio of meet to veggies is 2/3 to 1/3. Boil it, bake it, whatever you want. I saute' ground whatever or boil chicken thighs. I've baked a whole turkey for them. Pick your protein.

I incorporate veggies:

Great Northern Beans: Rinse and boil in water. Remove from heat, cover and let stand one hour OR continue cooking on simmer to speed up process 30 minutes.

Why? They are a rich source of fiber, B vitamins and protein. They reduce cholesterol, decrease blood sugar levels and increase healthy gut bacteria.

Sweet Potato: Scrub skin on and grind in food processor. Add to pot of water to boil and simmer for 20 minutes.

Why? Rich source of fibre including vitamins and minerals which include iron, calcium, selenium, B Vitamins and Vitamin C. High in antioxidants known as beta-carotene.

Butternut Squash: (or any squash): Skin off with potato peeler and remove seeds. Grind in food processor and add to sweet potato pot to boil and simmer 20 minutes.

Why? Good source of fiber, vitamin C, magnesium, potassium and Vitamin A

Beets: Skin off with potato peeler. Remove leaves from stems, wash and grind everything in the food processor. Serve RAW, no cooking required, keep in a separate bowl.

Why? Beets boost longevity, are good for the heart, prevent chronic disease, excellent sources of fiber, Vitamin C, magnesium and folate. Lowers blood pressure.

Carrots: Scrub skin on and grind in food processor. Serve raw, keep with the bets in a separate bowl.

Why? Vitamin A, antioxidants, nutrients, minerals and fiber. Reduces the risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease.

Kale: (or any green, like spinach broccoli, string beans, what ever); wash and grind in food processor serve raw, keep with the beets, carrots in a separate blow.

Why? Fiber, antioxidants, calcium and Vitamin K. "Chlorophyll" and a great source of Vitamin C. Boots your total wellbeing and prevents a range of health problems. Promotes digestive support.

Green Cabbage: Grind in food processor and blanch only or serve raw.

Why? Includes micronutrients, including Vitamin A, iron and riboflavin. High in fiber and contains powerful antioxidants. Its my go to skin saver for all my mange dogs and myself battling eczema.

At this point while my sweet potato and squash are cooking and almost done... I add to the pot a big piece of skinned, ground in food processor ginger, the tumeric and cinnamon.

Why Ginger? Relives nausea, loss of appetite, pain and helps with digestion. As an anti-inflammatory can help with Osteoarthritis. May prevent Kidney disease and I know it helps.

Why Tumeric? Potential to prevent heart disease, alzheimer's and cancer. Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant.

Why Cinnamon? Loaded with medicinal properties including antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties, cuts the risk of heart disease and lowers blood sugar levels and has a powerful anti-diabetic effect.

This is my recipe for my FOUR geriatric dogs from age 9-17. It sounds overwhelming but when you got the routine going on, it's easy and routine.

Questions and comments, lay it on me!
