Please welcome Dr. Michaela Dooley, the 2nd of our 4 2024-2025 interns that we will be introducing to you!

Dr. Dooley came from the University of Arizona, she chose Brazos Valley Equine to do her internship because she found it very inspiring that the doctors here will take the time to teach anyone who wants to learn.

She is hoping to do a sports medicine residency and focus on rehabilitation and functional training so they don't get hurt.

She owns a 10 year old team roping horse named Dino.

Please welcome the first of our four 2024-2025 interns-

Hayden Bauer!

Hayden is from Snowflake, Arizona and chose to intern here at BVEH Brazos Valley Equine Hospitals - Navasota because of the type of cases we see, the case load and the teaching style.

Currently his favorite type of medicine to practice and learn about is orthopedic. His future plans are undecided, but he will probably pursue a surgical residency.

Hayden moved to Texas with his wife Dakota, and his 3 children; Carter (4), Cash (2) and Wyatt (6months).

If you come to Navasota, you will see him assisting one of our veterinary associates with appointments and emergencies!

We are thrilled to announce that we had the pleasure of welcoming a group of talented equine veterinary externs from Texas Tech & Arizona to our hospital! 🎉 These dedicated students are here to expand their knowledge and gain hands-on experience in the field of equine medicine and surgery.

Here's what our externs will be up to during their time with us:
🔬 Assisting in diagnostic procedures and advanced imaging.
💉 Participating in routine and emergency treatments.
👩‍⚕️ Observing and learning from complex surgical procedures.
🏥 Understanding the nuances of equine patient care and management.

Hey everyone! We are thrilled to share a major milestone in our construction project. Saturday, we began pouring the concrete foundation for our new BVEH Sports Medicine & Podiatry Center! 🏗️ We're proud of the dedication and hard work our team has put into reaching this point.

Ouch! 🐴 This horse injured the lower lid of their right eye on the fence over the weekend. 👀 Dr. Kyle Grogger was in the area and swiftly stitched up the minor laceration! The horse is on 3-4 eye treatments a day over the next few days.

🏠 The wall structure is up! MBC Construction's dedicated team has completed the framing, and the roof is in place, providing a solid foundation for our future therapies and treatments.

📣 Exciting News! We are participating in a new study on Equine Squamous Cell Carcinoma (ESCC) and we need your help! 🐎

Equine Squamous Cell Carcinoma is a serious skin cancer that affects horses, and we want to learn more about how to detect, treat, and prevent it. By participating in this study, you'll contribute to important research that could help horses everywhere!

Eligibility criteria:
• Horses ≥ 12 months of age
• Horses with a suspicion of non-ocular Squamous Cell Carcinoma (Diagnosis will be confirmed prior to study treatment)
• Horses with chronic disease that is well controlled and life expectancy >6 months
• Horse owner must be willing to comply with all scheduled study visits

💜 Willa's Warriors 💜

Kyle Pape, our Practice Manager in Cypress, and his wife Tiffany endured an extremely difficult challenge. Willa was born at 31 weeks weighing 2.8 lbs and was facing the threat of a dangerous intestinal complication. She spent over 200 days in the NICU battling for her life.
