Meet Suzie - if snoozing and snuggling were an Olympic sport, this lady would be a gold medallist for sure.

Upon meeting people, initially she is a little timid and shy, but once she warms up to you, she puts the V in Velcro. Her favourite place to snooze in on your lap.

Suzie is currently living as an only dog, but she takes her cues from others around her, so a confident resident dog would be ideal for her to hang out with.

She loves to play with her toys, in particular her rope and squeaky ball. She is working on her crate training and has quickly mastered the doggy door. Suzie sleeps like a champion – easily staying in bed for 8-9 hours.

Her foster carers both work from home, so she hasn’t been left for long periods of time, but with another doggy friend she would be fine.

Her perfect house would be:

1 – where she has another dog to learn from

2 – where she is included in daily activities – she is an inside/outside dog

3 – A patient home that allows her the chance to settle in

Suzie is $350 to adopt and comes desexed, microchipped, C5 vaccinated, heartworm tested (negative), and given flea/tick/worm prevention.

ABOUT SUSIE

Susie is a beautiful soul. She is a very gentle and quiet Greyhound. One of those beautiful girls with a great temperament who loves pats and affection. Susie is absolutely fine with other dogs and we feel, with the right amount of socialising, she would also be fine with cats in time. She is not a jumpy dog and is always very calm, so she will make a very good pet for a family with children too. Susie will come to her new home with a new coat and martingale collar.

Here's one thing you can do right now to make your dog’s life even better than it already is: let them sniff! Walking your dog provides physical exercise, but letting them sniff along the way will provide your dog with mental exercise and stimulation, too. Not only is sniffing important to your dog, but it is essential for your dog’s wellbeing. Studies have also shown that olfactory stimulation lowers a dog’s heart rate and reduces stress levels. Next time you take your dog out, we encourage you to slow down and let your dog "smell the roses" and other epic scents on their walk!

ABOUT SNOW

SNOW is a sweet natured, small girl who is friendly with everyone. She's great with dogs and cats, so she will fit in with almost any family. She loves her walks, but is not over active. Snow will encourage a game with any dog she gets to know and is curious about cats, but with absolutely no prey drive, can be trusted with smaller animals in the home. Because of her small stature and calm nature, Snow can be offered to families with younger children as she is not likely to try to jump on them or bowl them over with enthusiasm. Likewise, she would make a perfect companion for an older person or couple. We don't get many Grey girls like Snow, so whoever takes her home will be very lucky indeed.

This friendly fellow isn't having much luck in the furever family department. In fact, in the almost 5 months Dodge has been in our care he's only had one enquiry – which we think is really sad because Dodge is a really cool guy.

He has a great personality who is eager to please. He loves to have a good time, and is confident going out for walks and brunch. One loveable trait of Dodge's is that he spins around in a circle when he's excited 🥹🫶

Can you change Dodge's life? Email [email protected] if you have any questions or would like to meet him.

ABOUT JASON

When it comes to describing Jason, we can't think of a better phrase than "the perfect pet Greyhound". Jason has the most gentle nature, gets on really well with all dogs, small to large and is even cat friendly. He's only a young lad, so a little bit over enthusiastic about being alive but very easily calmed. Most Greyhounds look stunning when they're alert but this boy has the wow factor. In fact he reminds us of a Friesian stallion when something attracts his attention and he stands stretching his lovely long neck as high as he can so as not to miss anything. He's just so beautiful both in nature and to look at. We feel he would be OK with children although, because of his size, maybe he would overwhelm littlies. But, he definitely would benefit from being with a family with savvy kids and other pets as he adores having company and someone to be following right behind. Velcro dog when you're with him, but not anxious if you're not. He's going to make some lucky family a wonderful companion dog. Jason will come to his new home with a new coat and martingale collar.

Flash is taking his job very seriously 🤓 Flash is still waiting for his forever home and has been in care since January. He gets on with some other dogs, LOVES playing Fetch, and is just overall such a sweet and happy boy that is past the puppy sillies and destructive teenage behaviours. In the meantime, him and his friends are absolutely adored here at the shelter.

Do you take your dog camping?

Camping is a fun and adventurous activity that many people enjoy. But camping can also be a great experience for your furry friend. Camping with your dog can provide numerous benefits for both you and your canine companion.

One of the biggest advantages of camping with your dog is the quality time that you get to spend together. In our busy lives, it can be difficult to find time to bond with our pets, but camping allows for uninterrupted time together in a new and exciting environment.

Camping not only provides a great opportunity for exercise and mental stimulation for your dog, but can also help reduce stress for both you and your four-legged friend.

While hiking, swimming, and exploring new surroundings help keep you and your dog physically fit, the peace and quiet of nature can be a welcome respite from the noise and bustle of everyday life.

Furthermore, camping can offer your dog new experiences and socialization opportunities. Meeting other dogs and people in a new environment can help with socialization and prevent isolation.

Overall, camping with your dog is a rewarding and enriching experience that creates lasting memories and strengthens your bond. So, pack your bags and hit the trail with your furry friend for a fun-filled camping adventure! 🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕
