This has been such a heartfelt message to get out there. How we reduce the incidents of dogs worrying sheep. I’m super proud of my beautiful flock and honoured to be representing farmers in general, particularly women in farming. I’m also very grateful to be able to work with such a brilliant dog trainer, doggiehomefrom and also to the commitment of Derbyshire Constabulary 🐑❤️🐶

Last school visit of the season went with a bang!
Beautiful little Evita ( who is only 5 days old) behaved perfectly. However, Einstein preferred to escape and led me off around the playground and fields. It was only thanks to the kindness of a caretaker that he was captured! Then I returned home to discover that Evita’s mummy, Bounty no longer wanted her, and needed to be haltered to feed her! At least Aphrodite didn’t reject Einstein!

Edna and Eden have been on tour to a local school today. This time providing cuddles and giggles to older children in years 5 and 6. Felt very rewarding and the lambs were very well behaved ❤️❤️🐑🐑

Evening discoveries ❤️ turns out Alfie doesn’t like standing in a door way. Feels too much of a squeeze and claustrophobic. I suppose we rarely ask a horse to just stand in a doorway. Behind it yes. Go through it also yes. But what if it was raining and we wanted to ride under a small tree? Or go into the small door on the horse box? So the fact he didn’t feel confident with it explains some other things. We had a bit of a chat about it last night and will do so again. ❤️❤️🐴🐴

So this happened yesterday.
Safe to say Jess has real natural instinct and ability.
She found the ram lambs easier, probably as they are the smaller group.
Next step is a round pen area and some proper training for me 😉
Jess looking a little bit wired and keen yesterday. Safe to say she is ready to start working. She just needs her human to catch up 😂
It’s always going to be a fine balance between getting basic commands and bond to a reasonable level but satisfying her natural instinct and ability.
The sheep are less happy about this development 😂

Some of you may recall Cyril. He was our superstar lamb of 2022 and showed great promise.
I was looking forward to growing him into a nice ram for someone.
Sadly he developed an injury and didn’t grow as we had hoped and his future became more bleak. I kept him on at the farm pondering options as he was still super friendly and easy to manage.
A lovely couple purchased two young ewes from me but whilst visiting fell in love with Cyril.
So following on from being castrated here he is in his new home, and his very happy ending. ❤️❤️🐑🐑.
Fryer went to school on Monday!
We taught the children the importance of caring for chickens, what they like to eat and where they like to live.
The children especially liked her feathered feet 💓💓

I really enjoyed looking after this gorgeous pair of house cats for a few days.
Visiting twice a day for feeding, litter changing and playing, both boys made me feel really welcome 💓💓

I’ve been making an effort to walk Jess just me and her where I can.
Walking a puppy can be challenging as you negotiate many new first experiences and being able to achieve this without a four year old is highly beneficial and allows us to deepen our bond.

A puppy can be hard work. But incredibly rewarding too. Jess is really starting to develop her own personality ( and opinions!)

It was 3rd all round at Halifax on Saturday. Will admit to being slightly disappointed if I’m honest, however our stock looked excellent and behaved themselves 💓💓 Hopefully Danny Boy can join Cupid and Diamond at the next show 🐑😍
