When a local college student found a stray puppy wandering the streets, she took the puppy to Pine Bluff Animal Control. As much as she wanted to help care for the puppy herself, she lived in a dorm and was not permitted to have an animal on the property. 🐶

Just as the shelter staff was discussing alternative options on where the puppy could go, a local patron showed up to drop off a bag of dog food to donate. After hearing the finder's dilemma, she immediately offered to foster the puppy for the next few weeks. She didn’t even blink an eye; she just volunteered to help. Now the puppy would not even have to enter a shelter environment! 🙌

As if that was not exciting enough, less than an hour after the puppy left with her new foster mom, the shelter received a call that one of the foster's clients was interested in adopting! And just for an added bonus: The puppy's finder signed up to volunteer with the shelter that helped her out! 🎉

These moments, this chain of events, are what it’s all about. This is what the saying "it takes a village" means! 👏 -katheryn

BREAKING NEW INFO: The ASPCA just uncovered a horrific letter that describes the secretive mass killing of 199 dogs – in a single day – at one of the largest USDA-licensed dog breeding facilities in America. Thomas came to our Sanctuary in 2017 after surviving Hurricane Harvey. 💪

Along with one healed-but-permanently-crumpled ear, Thomas arrived with an infected head wound. There were a few ups and downs, but the antibiotics did their job, and Thomas began feeling better.

When he first got to Cat World, Thomas was very shy and spent most of his time hiding in a cubby. Once he realized Hurricane Harvey was behind him and he was safe, Thomas relaxed, let his guard down and began venturing out of his cubby.

Thomas was still a bit timid with people, but with patience and lots of love, he began letting his human friends pet him. He needed a calm, quiet home with a family that would allow him to come out of his shell on his own time.

Well, this story has THE BEST ENDING because, in August, this Hurricane Harvey survivor was ✨ ADOPTED ✨ -amy

Honey turns 12 years old on Monday, January 30. Her one wish this year is to spend her birthday in a loving home. 🎂

After being found as a stray, with no luck finding her previous family, our team in Los Angeles, California, took her in and quickly discovered that she is incontinent and would require special care. Don't let that deter you, though! Honey is super sweet and well-behaved. Despite being a senior dog, she actually has the energy of a younger dog and loves going on long walks. She also does well meeting other dogs and is gentle with children. All she needs is the right home to love her for who she is. ❤️
