Meet Rainy Tulsa Zoo's Grizzly Bear! Check out their post shared below for some cool information. Grizzly bears can grow their claws up to 4-inches. They can be as long as human fingers! These Large mammals can run up to 40 miles per hour and cover about 50 yards in three seconds.😆

Arguably, she has the best mani/pedi at the zoo. Sit back and soak your nails ... let's hear how she keeps them in check.

Bears, like Rainy, maintain their nails while digging and scratching (trees, stumps). This is typically while foraging for food or playing. It’s totally normal for bears to have claws that are several inches long!

We let our grizzly bears grow out their nails so that they utilize these behaviors appropriately through our enrichment programs. We then trim them as needed if they start to get too long, but Rainy does a good job at maintaining nail length herself.

Check out Tulsa Zoo's Tawny Frogmouth! This species got their name from what they eat.. you guessed it Frogs! Along with frogs that also have smaller prey like insects, snails, and slugs. As mentioned in Tulsa Zoo's post below they have whiskers that are stiff and sharp that help them catch their prey when they swoop down from the trees they habitat in. Along with helping them with catching their prey these whiskers also protect them from stings and bit.😃

Tawny Frogmouth's wide “frog-like” bill has stiff whiskers around the base to aid in the capture of prey. Also, we think the whiskers aid in their cuteness.

Check Tulsa Zoo Post below about their Giant Day Geckos!!

They don’t have eyelid they have”spectacle”.
Which they keep clean with the help of their tongue. These cool animals have another fun fact. They communicate by different vocalizations which can range from hisses to barks!

Animal you should not challenge to a staring contest ... giant day geckos. These guys don’t have eye lids! Instead have a clear covering over their eyes which they occasionally clean with their tongues.
