My services include show-riding, schooling, jumping, XC training, backing young horses, problem horses which need some TLC, uneducated horses.
The lovely Gypsy I’ve had the pleasure of breaking for the Richardsons with her new jockey!
I’ve had gypsy around 9 weeks now, for backing! She’s been an absolute sweetheart. Very happy with how she’s coming along. Took to the job very quickly.
Going to be a pleasure bringing this lovely lad back into work while his owner is out of action!
Just a normal morning for me on the gallops 🐎
But an exciting morning for Darren and Sarah. They had a ride over, to Pam Sly Racing to have a look at what I get up to in the mornings.

Denie has done an amazing job on the ground with her for the past few months and now it’s time for big school.

My first time riding in a western saddle and it was so much fun.

GEM 🤩
This gorgeous boy is called gem. He’s 9 years old and he’s an ex racer. He raced up until last august, but wasn’t quick enough. When his owner first had him he was very weak, no top line and only knew how to go in straight line. She found him very lazy and not really enjoying his schooling. She’s spent months working on the basics and had to start from scratch.
She contacted me, as she was struggling to get the right canter lead, he would constantly strike off on the left lead. She said she’d tried everything.
I went over to see him and have a sit on him and see what I thought. When I sat on him all he was doing is constantly anticipating the canter stride and was struggling to get a nice forward trot, felt very tense, rushing and just not focusing. So we took it right down to basics and completely forgot about the canter for a second and just worked on getting an even, forward trot around the arena. Getting him doing lots of circles, bending and really trying to get him to focus on what I was asking him to do. Once we was happy with this we when worked on the canter and me giving step by step aids to his owner while I was doing we got Gem striking off on the right canter lead most times in the first session. Trying to teach a horse to canter on the right leg it’s so important that you’re actually asking them right with the right aids.
For race horses, they are always raced left handed. So this is why Gem always wanted to lead with his left leg, not only was it his favourite but was his strongest. So when retraining them, a lot of people get to the cantering and struggle.
His owner also wanted to start jumping and when I had a jump on Gem we found he just wanted to rush and wasn’t thinking about were his legs were going, so therefore wasn’t picking his legs up. So instead of going round and round jumping the same fence. We really worked on making him wait, think and made him trot at fences. Not only was this making him really think about what he was doing but also worked on strengthening his back end. So we did lots of ground poles and grid work.
He absolutely loves jumping and just over the 5 weeks of me going you can see such a difference. His lovely owner couldn’t believe the change in him and still now can’t believe what we’ve achieved with him.
With only 4 sessions with me. We are now getting the right canter lead on both reins and also doing walk to canter on both reins. Gem has a heart of gold and working with him as been a pleasure, as he is just so genuine and wants to please. He’s is now a very happy boy and my work will continue 😁

To say this horse had not done much jumping before I started work with him, he’s really is enjoying it and takes it all in his stride.

Very successful show at East Anglia Horse Show yesterday with this lovely stallion Little Distraction. Won two classes, 2nd and took the Quest championship. Very pleased with how this boy is coming on with it only being our 4th show together. Big things to come for him! Next outing TOYS end of the month. 🥇
Young cocos first time away from the yard today. He’s such a genuine horse, just thinks everyone & everything is out to eat him. Really trying to build his confidence, getting him out and about seeing different things, lots of pole work and small jumps keeping him engaged and listening to us. Mainly trying to get him to trust us. But clients very happy with his progress so I’m happy 😃
Here’s the lovely 5 year old coco finally getting to grips with his schooling. Really happy with how this horse is coming along, he’s a very kind boy always wanting to please.
