Our heritage breed hens are living great lives, doing what nature intended them to do, living the dream free range on 153 acres in Merryvale South East Queensland which houses 9 hectares of Chinchilla White Gum (Eucalyptus argophloia) which are grown for soil carbon (C) sequestration which is one of three main approaches to carbon dioxide removal and storage through management of terrestrial ecosystems.
Soil C sequestration relies of the adoption of improved management practices that increase the amount of carbon stored as soil organic matter, primarily in cropland and grazing lands. These C sequestering practices act by increasing the rate of input of plant-derived residues to soils and/or by reducing the rates of turnover of organic C stocks already in the soil. In addition to carbon dioxide removal potential, increases in soil organic matter/soil C content are highly beneficial from the standpoint of soil health and soil fertility.
Our flock are part of the bigger picture of a healthy planet environment which is part of our stewardship of ethical farming practices, our non-commercial breeds of chickens are our personal choice and see this as the way of the future of sustainable living. They amazing birds are living in natural conditions where they can enjoy family groups with a rooster, which protects them and socialise within a community of all ages from the seniors and newborn chicks. Secondly, this ethical view is embraced by veggan the idea is not interrupting the life cycle of hens for profit and exploiting animals at any stage This ethical approach denotes sustainable farm and soil improvement without leaving a carbon footprint, compassionate life, which includes not viewing them or their products as consumables.

Health benefits of eggs
Each egg contains 13g of protein, which is 24% of the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for women, as well as being a great source of Vitamin, eggs also contain the following key nutrients:

• Selenium – antioxidant properties
• Iron – haemoglobin and oxygen transport
• Vitamin D – strong bones and teeth
• Iodine – Brain and bone development and hormone function
Iodine is vital for thyroid hormone production. These hormones control the body's metabolism and many other important functions. The body also needs thyroid hormones for proper bone and brain development during pregnancy and infancy.
Average large egg contains 24 mcg of iodine, or 16% of the daily value.
