Can someone help this lady and her pups?
It’s heartbreaking
This is a courtesy post to help this woman who has pancreatic cancer rehome her bonded pair of dogs find a good loving home, before she transitions. Please contact them directly at [email protected]
This email is from Christie Long who is trying to help a friend of hers. If you can open your home, know a rescue, can help find a foster, ANYTHING.... please reply to her at [email protected]
It breaks my heart to think of this lady in this situation. It always hurts when dogs are dumped at shelters, but here is an owner who desperately wants her babies in a new home before she dies.
Thank you,
Emily
I am trying to help a woman in Macon County, GA who has stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She needs to re-home her 2 pitbulls. She does not want to die knowing her dogs have nowhere to go. I have contacted rescues in middle GA, I emailed FTTF in Atlanta and none of their fosters were interested in fostering them. My county doesn't even have animal control.
I've had zero interest in these dogs. Their owner needs to move in with someone to help her and because, in her words, she does not want to die alone. This is one last push to get them placed. She cannot move til they have a home (she'll be moving into a camper with someone who has 1 dog already), and I really don't want to tell her humane euthanasia may be their only option. If you could share with any contacts that would be terrific. These are their Adopt A Pet profiles.

Cookie is 5 years old, spayed but not UTD on shots (I will pay for that should they be placed in a home or rescue). Suzie has owned her since she was a 6 week old puppy purchased by her late husband. She gets along great with her brother Baby Buck who is 4 years old, and he was also purchased by Suzie's late husband at 6 weeks old. Baby Buck is neutered but also not UTD on shots (again I will take care of that before they go anywhere). They are both inside dogs, are not very active when going outside, and they are obviously a little too well fed. They are NOT cat friendly and bark or chase most any small critter they see. However, they have been good with other stray dogs Suzie has picked up, but they do best with puppies that grow up with them.
About 2 years ago her husband committed su***de. These dogs are her world! They have been with her through her husband's su***de and now her cancer diagnosis. Suzie does not have a lot of money but she will feed these dogs and the strays before herself. She found out recently her cancer is inoperable, they are trying chemo and it mostly makes her feel terrible, and she is in a lot of pain. If she was not sick she would not be giving up her dogs, she loves these dogs. She would love for them to go to a loving home together, but she knows that may not happen.
If anyone has any questions they can reach out to me or I will be glad to let them talk to Suzie about the dogs, she obviously knows them best. She doesn't really have any family other than her late husband's family (her in-laws) and her ex-husband who has helped take her to doctor's appointments. She considers me like her family and I want to help her with these dogs.
Thank You, Christie Long
