Winnie's puppies are such fun to watch! They have all mastered walking. This week we will introduce toys and puppy mush plus upgrade them to the breakaway collars over the velcro collars!!
Lilly's litter turned 3 weeks old yesterday! Everyone's eyes are open and they are starting to use their legs more and more each day! Lilly often stands up to nurse now to help them build up their leg muscles!
They are also starting to use their little voices in growlinging and barking. It's so cute to listen to them. They no longer like laying on towels all the time and so we start arranging part of their space with folded towels for them to nap on.
Winnie's puppies are getting much better at walking. Ms Yellow, as you can see, is the most advanced at this time. The puppies are all starting to play a little with each other too and we've little barks and growls some this week!
We have 1 male and 6 female spots open for deposyts in her litter. PM if interested!

Early Neurological Stimulation
The Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) exercises, which are conducted once daily from the third to the 16th days, is a period believed to be a time of rapid neurological growth and development. Even though puppies are very immature during this time frame, they are sensitive and respond to ENS.
The US Military developed this method designed to improve the performance of future military working dogs, according to the Breeding Better Dogs program developed by Dr. Carmen Battaglia, esteemed breeder, judge, seminar presenter, and AKC board member.
ENS requires handling the puppies one at a time while performing a series of five exercises. Listed in order of preference, the handler starts with one pup and stimulates it using each of the five exercises. The handler completes the series from beginning to end before starting with the next pup. The handling of each pup once per day involves the following exercises:
1. Tactile stimulation – Holding the pup in one hand, the handler gently stimulates (tickles) the pup between the toes on any one foot using a Q-tip. It is not necessary to see that the pup is feeling the tickle. Time of stimulation 3 – 5 seconds.
2. Head held erect – Using both hands, the pup is held perpendicular to the ground, (straight up), so that its head is directly above its tail. This is an upwards position. Time of stimulation 3 – 5 seconds.
3. Head pointed down – Holding the pup firmly with both hands the head is reversed and is pointed downward so that it is pointing towards the ground. Time of stimulation 3 – 5 seconds.
4. Supine position – Hold the pup so that its back is resting in the palm of both hands with its muzzle facing the ceiling. The pup while on its back is allowed to sleep. Time of stimulation 3-5 seconds.
It is extremely important that you do not repeat the exercises more than once per day and do not extend the time beyond that recommended for each exercise. Over stimulation of the
All of Winnie's puppies are fabulous eaters! And she has tons of milk to feed them. They now have their little velcro collars on and have been doing great with the Early Neurological Stimulation protocol we follow from day 3-16 of their life! This helps develop and balance their brains and senses before their eyes and ears open. We've found this to be very beneficial for the puppies throughout their lives!
