I started my journey with dog training after my family adopted a rescue from a local shelter. I was very involved in the whole process as I always loved animals and felt special connection especially towards dogs. My family adopted one and a half years old beagle / basset mix and named him Tio. I was visiting him very often as well as house sitting every time my family was traveling. I quickly realized that this cute little ball of fur was in charge. He spin us around his fingers. He eat when he wanted, he went out when he wanted, demanding treats, and constant attention. There was no rules and boundaries. He jumped on top of use, climbed on us when we sat on the couch, barked when no one pay attention to him for to long, or pulled on the leash on the walk so hard that you we could fall on the ground. And yet no one really noticed what was happening. After all everyone love him so much that his bad behavior was justified with a him being cute and still a ‘puppy like’ dog. Then I started doing some research on dog’s behavior to learn some simple dog training to try some simple techniques. Tio however was stubborn and nothing was really working for a long time. He always returned to his old habits. At the same time, I was between jobs and decided to volunteer in Houston SPCA to help out and learn more about dog’s behavior. I was able to work with hundreds dogs, and recognized even more behavioral issues that dogs were struggling with. What was sad, that for this reason sometimes owners surrender them. There was so much need, and I had a big desire to help. I started studying dog psychology, took courses online, read books, researched videos and followed the greatest dog trainers. I also started working at local doggy day care. I invested my time, self train my self and completely changed my career path. (I am economist by profession). It wasn’t easy, but I was motivated and simply happy, by doing what I love. I have learn how non verbally communicate with dogs, how to use my body language and how much our energy matters. I spend months and hundreds of hours studying and then practicing until I finally understood how dogs think, why they behave in certain situations and what to do to make our dogs to listen, respect and follow. This is something I would to share with people. My goal is to help as many dogs and dog owners I can reach. Ultimately when dog understand it’s owner expectations, rules and that the owner makes all the decision, dog will obey. And this is the key to make everyone happier, calmer and more harmonial.
