For the sheep owners.
This is an example of Barbers Pole. Barbers Pole attacks the red blood cells causing the sheep to become anemic shortly followed by death. Death will typically happen in a week. There’s no obvious physical symptoms like dirty back end. The only noticeable difference is your sheep becoming very lethargic and the white gums or white colour on the inside of the eyelids. In some cases sheep will develop a swollen look under their jaw. Drenching with a specific drench before this happens is key to keeping a healthy flock.
In this photo, on the left you see this sheep has very pale gums. This sheep has Barbers Pole.
On the right, this sheep has pink gums and is clearly healthy.
Hope this example helps.
Key thing also to remember .Barbers pole loves the Hot and HUMID environment. See your vet for drench to stop infection and how often to drench in order to protect your sheep for infection. Drenching once over the summer is not going to stop infection over the long summer period .

Valais Blacknose cross sheep. Look how long the wool is! Unreal! Beautiful breed but will need shearing at least twice a year because of how much wool they grow. Research the breeds before you buy. This owner is doing a great job at looking after them and now she has me to keep on top of this wool growth.

5 beautiful milking sheep Ewes and 1 Ram looking for a new postal address. They are to go as a package. They come running when called looove Multifeed pellets. Ram is a lovely boy. Very friendly. He loves a neck scratch and to be told he’s beautiful.
This package is ideal if you want to breed full blooded milking sheep and milk them yourself.
All freshly shorn and I can deliver between tokoroa and Auckland in the next month.
