🐹🐹 The Australian National Cavy (Guinea Pig) Show! 🐹🐹

This is the annual show run by the Australian National Cavy Council Inc. A competition for pure breed show guinea pigs, over 500 guinea pigs will be coming to Dubbo to enter the show. All with the anticipation at the end of the day to win the Australian Title of Best Cavy in Show.

Four top International Judges travelling from the United Kingdom have the task of assessing each cavy against the breed standard.

There will be guinea pigs to pat, free information on care of pet guinea pigs as well as merchandise for sale.

The show will be held in the Convention Centre, tickets are on sale now!

The cooler weather has seen a few litters born lately but this one has been much anticipated! My current show boar, Spirit’s first litter on the ground with a very nice ticked sow and a chunky dilute sow 😍

We had a great day at Gosford Ag Show on Sunday and I was super happy with the feedback on all of the baby ticked I took along for feedback. Thanks to hubby and Gabrielle for helping get them on the table, it was bit of a handful haha 😂

Had some lovely results with Déjà Silver Shadow going best satin, NSW Déjà Silver Spirit going best ticked and best junior in show. It was nice to get AJH Otto back on the table for reserve ticked and Déjà White Tia went reserve self. All the baby ticked earned themselves a BOB which was great!

Thanks to Rebecca for coming all the way from WA to judge and to the club for organising, it was a great day out.

We took a small team of 5 to Sydney Royal with a baby lemon agouti taking out best ticked in both shows then going on to win best in show in Peter’s show!

Spirit came reserve ticked in both shows and Shadow best satin in one show. Little Tia earned herself a BOB in both shows and my Rex, Silverado, came 2nd in the adult boar class.

As always, thanks to the organisers and the judges for their feedback and guidance. It was a great day out at the Royal but I’m sure everyone slept well last night!

Surprise!! Well this little miss wasn’t supposed to be pregnant, one of the boys must have got to her prior to weaning because she has been in a baby sow weaning cage since weaned 🤦🏼‍♀️ on the upside, all healthy and safe, two baby dilute sows with great ears!

2023 National Cavy Show results.

What a massive weekend it was but I’m very happy with my results for my first national!

All of the show team placed well with lovely feedback from the judges. Buffy Bea was amazing with a BOB and reserve adult ticked and ROB to Amarillo and Miss Glysh ❤️

Thankyou to the show organisers for such a great show and awards dinner. Congratulations to all of the best in show winners, absolutely stunning animals!

Last show of the year was the NSW CC boars vs sow show and my baby crested pew, Killawara White Glyshna is full of surprises taking out best sow in show and overall best in show 😱 I think she has also earned her points for NSW Champion at her second outing!! I am so grateful to David for giving me the opportunity to own such an amazing little sow ❤️

Lyana Cinnamon Sh**un also earned his last points for NSW Champion with his BOB and best satin award and I had wonderful feedback on my Abyssinians and baby agoutis. I’m looking forward to watching them develop next year.

As always the judges were ever so helpful with feedback and giving advice and direction, thankyou! Thankyou to the organisers and my hubby for helping so much on the day ❤️
