Roxy urges all California private & municipal animal control facilities to reevaluate their strategies for managing companion animal inventories. Communities can reabsorb inventories of homeless animals if citizens are made aware & asked for their help.

According to Morgan Stanley, Alphawise, & the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, we are acquiring more pets, not less, & will double our spending on them by 2030, a $275 BILLION Business by 2030! Another good reason not to kill our shelter animal "inventory" & market them better.

From a merchandising and marketing perspective, every animal that comes through a shelter needs to be reabsorbed by the community. These animals are revenue generators We have an opportunity for more pet industry businesses including retail, medical, and a host of pet services related businesses including training, grooming. And more.

We should treasure our shelter animals in general but this one is a no-brainer if you’re in the camp of generating business opportunities in Chula Vista.

Any animal that is not a verifiably dangerous one, regardless of age, species, health, or it’s disposition around other animals should be protected, cared for, and pushed back out to the community to love, cherish, (and spend money on LoL).

Science. Data. How accurate are dog behavior assessments in animal shelters where the stress levels are high, dogs are in unfamiliar environments among strangers, and assessment encounters are brief? Not very.

I would love to see different language and labels used (with the potential to be misused) in animal welfare reporting as it pertains to outcomes for animals, both live and non-live outcomes.

Current reporting is a bit confusing to me and I’m sure to the average citizen.

Roxy was a feral, dog & human aggressive 8-wk old puppy & would not have made it out of a shelter for that reason. I took a chance, adopted her, trained her with a ball, & she's been my best friend for 9 yrs. Go to a shelter today and find your imperfect best friend.

It’s difficult to know where to start when you’re attempting to create an organization from scratch, especially one like an SPCA with a huge potential for saving lives if done right. I see gaps in current processes & practices, but I need more truth and non-fuzzy data.

Rascal will always be there in spirit form to help keep me on the right path as I take on what feels like an unsolvable problem in California and nationally.

If you want to help end the killing of our communities’ abandoned and homeless dogs and cats in California, reach out. We will need all of the help we can get.

Please follow us as we walk through the process of obtaining our non-profit status and build our organization.

Together, we citizens can solve this problem. Stay tuned and follow us on IG, and X for now.

I am done watching our community treasures being killed.

Help spread the word by sharing please.

Friday 7.21.23 Our first post.

This image of Roxy, my Catahoula and me represents what we believe every dog and cat deserves; A comfortable and loving home (indoors) and kind humans to love and care for them.

Dogs and cats do so much for us. I’ll save the extremely long list of all of the things they provide for a future post, but the one that stands out to me is that they save our lives.

A few examples are; K9 cops, Military K9s, Search and Rescue dogs, dogs trained to detect your cancer and other diseases, including Covid, dogs assisting the blind, and dogs being protectors in our homes just because it’s what they do. It’s a beautiful thing, but we, as a society, don’t reciprocate very well.

Each and every citizen can take steps to help a homeless and abandoned animal stay alive. For starters, please go to your local shelter and ask what you can do to prevent the killing of animals there. Here are just a few:

1. Every shelter needs volunteers daily to help exercise and socialize dogs, and to help care for cats.
2. Consider taking an animal into your home (foster) and help find a home for it in your family, within your circle of friends, coworkers and social media followers.
3. Donate money to shelters to help them feed, house, and provide medical treatment to dogs and cats that land in shelters through no fault of their own.
4. Organize adoption events or help local shelter and rescues with theirs.

We citizens are the cause for the dog and cat population that exists today, and we are also the solution.

Will you please help?

Be on the lookout for pop up photoshoot fundraisers for our organization. I am super excited about this opportunity. We’ll photograph your best furry friend, load the images in our store, and let you order products such as metal and canvas prints. Go to our website in the bio and sign up for the newsletter so that you’ll know where we will be.

Please like/follow/share and tell your peeple. Thanks!!
