Good morning. I hope you are all well on this gorgeous spring morning.
It is good to get your cats teeth checked and usually this can be done by a vet nurse at your clinic, feee of charge.
I wanted to give some advice on dental health according to the Cat Clinic.
I have one of my girls who has required teeth extractions and has been on daily meds for a couple of years. With another, extractions has fixed the problem, but with this particular girl it’s been ongoing. I do have a lot of cats, so rest assured this is not always a problem!
I would suggest after extractions they are on a few rounds of antibiotics and steroids to totally clear the problem if still recurs. This has been done recently with mine, and with the daily med it seems to be under control at last.
Now for (hopefully!)the preventative, which I would recommend for any cat.
Aquadent in their drinking water, but make sure they still are drinking! Cats don’t like change, as you all would know.
The cat clinic recommends Hexarinse as well, along the gum line. Upon contacting the producer I have discovered this in not been produced atm. I’ve searched and found the product in the photo through Amazon has chlorhexadine in it so I’m trying this. Rather than risking injuring the gums I will use my finger, or a rubber toothbrush, to administer it.
If you have one or two cats I would recommend using these products as a preventative as feline dental problems can be painful for them and expensive and ongoing for us! Putting my finger daily in the mouth of all my cats is something I will not be doing!!
I pray you are all blessed with good health and longevity for your furbabies!(and yourselves of course!) xo😻
