Rescue is heartbreaking just for all the dogs you want to save but can't due to lack of fosters or funding. When you have an amazing foster and you are doing everything you can to save a dog in your care and you still lose them, heartbreaking just isn't a strong enough word😞
We rescued Bear aka Otto from Newton County AC in early May and within 4 days he had his first seizure. Off to our ER vet and we hoped it was a one time event. Two days later, 2 more seizures. Off to the ER vet for a short stay and to get him started on Keppra. For the next three weeks it was just an adjustment and getting the Keppra into his system. Last Thursday evening, Bear had another seizure and the next morning another😥 Back to the ER for another 24 hour stay where they added phenobarbital and alprazolam to the Keppra. When he came back to the foster, he was so out of it from the meds that he could barely walk and was urinating on himself. He would also pace and whine periodically but we were assured that this is normal until they can acclimate to the phenobarbital. Bears foster Mom was up with him almost 24 hours a day and doing everything she could for him❤️
Yesterday, we were so frightened by the pacing, whining and crying that she loaded him up and took him to Blue Pearl in Sandy Springs hoping for an emergency neurologist consult.
Dr Johnson contacted us around 4 yesterday to let us know that the MRI revealed a large tumor on the left side of Bears brain😞 We made the decision to let him go without bringing him out of the anestesia💔
We had everything in place to save this precious boy but we just couldn't. We are devastated for Bear and for his foster who was already smitten with this scruffy boy with tons of personality. Fly free sweet Bear...no more pain💔😞🐾

UPDATE‼️ First, we woild like to thank everyone who has donated to help us with our recent wave of medical needs for our current precious pups♥️🐾
CURRENTLY, CCR is still in a precarious financial position and asking for any possible donations to help🐾😳 No amount is too small🐾‼️
Bear (top left) had been doing well on the anti seizure meds for almost 2 weeks but began having seizures again Thursday evening and is now back at our ER vet. We are looking at the possibility of needing to do an MRI on his brain which is between $3000 and $5000 even with out rescue discount
Myles (top right) goes on Tuesday for a dental which will most likely remove any remaining teeth and the vet believes that he may have a hole that goes into his sinuses cavity from a former tooth. We aren't sure what may be required if this is the case😳
Paco, our 15 year old Chi is doing well on his heart medication and required a cytapoint injection last week to help eliminate some serious scratching. Twiggy (bottom right) continues her weight loss journey and we hope that she can be spayed soon! There are others too and it is exhausting but we are dedicated to do everything we can for the dogs in our care♥️. PLEASE DONATE IF YOU CAN HELP US HELP THEM‼️🙏♥️🐾
CCR has had an overwhelming two weeks😳 Bear that we rescued began having seizures and required 2 trips to the emergency vet. Paco our 15 year old chihuahua is in the beginning stages of heart failure and Myles our 13 year old pekingese mix has an opening in his gums into his sinuses😳
Olive I'd going through heart worm treatment and last but not lease, our van broke down and required a new starter and rear brakes😞
All of this has been a huge hit to our funding so we are asking for donations to help us get back to helping dogs in need🐾 Thank you for any help you can give♥️

Harlow, Millie and Sandy left Georgia for New Hampshire this morning to find families to call their very own♥️ Millie ended up in a kill shelter after her Dad passed away and Harlow and Sandy were both strays at another shelter who's owners never came for them. All three are completely housebroken and loving dogs so we know they had good home at some point.
We can't wait to see these babies in their new homes🐾❤️

UPDATE ON TWIGGY♥️
Miss Twiggy has been with CCR since early February and came in weighing a whopping 35 pounds😲 We have tested Twiggy for Thyroid and Cushings and both tests came back negative♥️ We are happy to report that she loves green beans that we mix in with her low fat kibble😊 She also loves frozen broccoli as a treat and as a result, she is down to 31.5 pounds as of yesterday♥️🐾
Twiggy loves to walk around in the yard and can even go up and down the 4 steps that go to the yard on her own now♥️🐾
We are so grateful to our foster Maria Sousa for taking such good care of the Twig's♥️♥️♥️

UPDATE ON TRUFFLE nka Benji❤️ This precious matted boy was adopted by his foster moms neighbor and has found his happily ever after❤️❤️❤️ Photos attached🐾
We rescued precious Truffle today who was a matted mess. It seems that he had spent most of his 2 years in a yard and had sticks and briars matted against his skin all over. Truffle is a very sweet boy and it breaks my heart that he was treated this way💔😡 Never again sweet boy...never again❤️ Please donate below if you would like to help with Truffles care or the care of other dogs in need in our care❤️🐾

Magnolia and Stella headed north this morning to find loving families to call their own♥️ Magnolia spent 8 months in GA being treated for heart worms and she finally tested negative this month😋 Sweet ,senior Stella was saved by an officer who saw her running in traffic and grabbed her just in the nick of time😳 Sadly her owners didn't come for her but she has a wonderful home waiting for her in NH🐾♥️ Thank you Maria Sousa for fostering these priceless pups and thank you to everyone that continues to support our rescue❤️❤️❤️

UPDATE IN COMMENTS!
CCR rescued a Chihuahua mix today that weighs 34.4 pounds😥 Twiggy should weigh a maximum of 15 pounds. She also has dry eye in both eyes and an ulcer in her left eye. We took her straight to our vet for bloodwork to check for thyroid issues or diabetes. If these are negative we will also test for cushings. Twiggy has clearly suffered abuse at the hands of her former owner! It's not looked at the same as beating or starving a dog but clearly feeding a dog to double their weight is abusive. We are going to do everything we can for Twiggy and give her the best possible chance at a good life. Thank you Maria Sousa for being willing to foster this loving little dog through a really tough fight for her life♥️🐾

UPDATE!!!
Sadly Smudge has been diagnosed with MMVD which is a form of congestive heart failure😌 Life expectancy after diagnosis is 9 to 15 months and requires several medications. We will not let Smudge suffer but we want him to have a good life being loved by his foster for as long as possible🥰
Poor little Smudge😞 When we rescued him from Rockdale County AC last week we were hopeful that the matting would be his only issue. Sadly Smudge has much more than that going on😥
Our vet has determined that he has a 4 out of 6 heart murmur and is worried about possible lesions on his lungs from the x rays. Like most Shih Tzu's, this boy has dry eye which is requiring medication as well. Add to that his red enflamed sc***um was caused by urine scald😳 Smudge is so precious we really have a hard time believing he was kept in a crate in his own urine but that's what it looks like😡 Dr Wright is ordering an ultrasound of his heart and lungs so we can see exactly what we are looking at. The current estimate for Smudge is $1400 to $1600 including the ultrasound. We don't know where it will go from there🐾 Thank you Kathy Camp for fostering Smudge❤️
