So excited and proud to announce that we were selected to be ambassadors this year for Back on Track USA. Without their products I don't know where I'd be. They have everything for humans and animals. I discovered their shirts years ago and it truly helped ease my pain and muscle spasms from severe scoliosis. Back on Track (BoT) products are made with welltex technology which helps ease aches and pains. "Welltex technology is a state-of-the-art textile technology found exclusively in Back on Track products. This technology uses a proprietary ceramic and mineral solution that reflects body heat as long-wave radiation, also known as far infrared radiation."

Follow us along as we hit the trails, attend some events and share some of Back on Tracks amazing products and how they help keep my animals and I comfortable. Below my Tennessee Walking horse is wearing the werano halter which helps "stimulate blood circulation and contribute to more mobile and relaxed muscles in the sensitive areas." I'm wearing the women's ophelia p4g shirt that helps to stimulate blood circulation and is great for workouts or warmer weather days.

In the Great Bear Wilderness, just south of West Glacier/Glacier National Park in Montana is a beautiful and strenuous hike or horseback ride to a lake called Stanton Lake. You can horseback ride and hike with your dogs here. You can also camp primitive in the area but please be respectful and clean up after yourselves as we picked up quite a bit of trash that day. The trails were well maintained and we ran into quite a few people as it was mid-Summer. We did the whole 3.5 mile loop but there's more you can add on to make it 4.5 miles. If you are looking for dog friendly hikes around Glacier National Park, we highly suggest this one as the lake is just as clear as the ones in Glacier and the surroundings are just as beautiful. Plus less people and crowds compared to going inside Glacier during the busy season. 😉 The Wilderness and National Forest areas have just as much to offer as the National Park's.

Treasure Falls in the beautiful San Juan National Forest out of Colorado. Perfect timing for fall colors was early October! There is a ton of hiking, biking, horseback riding and camping throughout this National Forest but the 105' waterfall at Treasure Falls is only open to hikers. It is a quick and easy hike and has beautiful views all around, even just the drive there!

Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) - Colorado. There is so much to see and do here but I only had one day, so I drove around Old Fall River Road the one evening up to the Alpine Visitor Center and then the next day was able to secure a Timed Entry for 4PM to Bear Lake Road where there are several lakes and tons of hiking.

I entered from the Estes Park side and bought a $2 Timed Entry plus the Bear Lake Road. This side is one of the most popular and why the park tickets between 5AM to 6PM. Make sure you also have a National Park pass on top of the Timed Entry. The Timed Entry runs from May to mid-October. I went to the park in early October and there was still some color left in the trees. I was able to hike to Nymph Lake, Dream Lake, Emerald Lake and Bear Lake. Nymph, Dream and Emerald Lakes are all within 3 miles to get to BUT it is a hike as you have some major elevation gain. Bear Lake is flat, easy to access and handicap accessible still with beautiful views. I will 100% be back to explore more and with my horse to help me cover some more ground. ;)

Horses are allowed on some of RMNP's trails. Dogs are as usual "paws on pavement" only (this goes for most National Parks). There are camping spots (primitive and non in the park) and nearby facilities for you to stay with your horses (just not in the park).

Hidden Lake Overlook is accessed from Logan Pass in Glacier National Park. It is a 1.5 mile hike in and 1.5 mile hike out. You will almost always encounter some wildlife along the way. We saw several grizzlies and a long horn sheep. It is a pretty strenuous hike for those not used to stairs and climbing but take your time as the views are 100% worth it.

Glacier National Park does allow camping and horseback riding, just not at that area.

Thanks to a friend we were able to check out Herron Park in Kalispell, Montana the other day with their horses. There is a cross country course, some rings and lots of trails. Beautiful views at the top looking back into the valley. They also have stalls but I don't know if you can rent them. They host a lot of events there for riders. It is a beautiful area with lots of trail challenges for each level of horse and rider. Check it out if you're in the area.

Kootenai National Forest right outside Libby, Montana past the Libby Dam is perfect for primitive camping and lots of trail riding! We did a 25 mile endurance ride put on by EDRA (endurance distance riders association) thanks to a friend and her horse. Such a beautiful area and well ran ride. For those interested it is called the Big Sky Memorial Ride and you can follow their page for information regarding next year's ride! It has trail rides too, not just endurance rides.

Jewel Basin area in North Western Montana - If you can get over the rough forest service road and long/rough drive in, then this area is absolutely beautiful to camp and hike in! You feel like you're on top of the world with a short 2.5 mile hike up and back to the Jewel Basin area. The Flathead National Forest has so much to offer for hikers, bikers and trail riders. Lots of off-grid camping areas as well.

Lone Pine State Park in Montana overlooks the Flathead Valley and Kalispell. It has something for the whole family!

https://fwp.mt.gov/stateparks/lone-pine

This beautiful state park covers 279 acres for many different sports during all seasons. Horses are allowed for day trail riding. There are some tent camping spots too. Beautiful ponderosa pines throughout the park, grassy fields, some climbs and very well maintained trails for beginner through advanced hikers. Lots of scenic overlooks too!

I got back in the saddle! Huge shout out to Firefly Horse Co Wellness Retreat Center. If you're ever in Montana, they offer all sorts of services from birthday parties, to camps to riding lessons and even riding experiences. I did the riding experience as obviously I know how to ride and have horses of my own but had to leave them back home due to work. I hadn't really ridden since before my spinal fusion revision and it had been over a year so I wanted to try again and boy did it feel amazing! Way better than before my revision. I am so grateful for my second chance at life and to be able to ride again. The surgeon said it was ultimately up to me if I tried riding again but he didn't recommend pounding around and obviously no jumping ever again. At 6 months my parents lead lined me on my own pony, so now that I'm over the year I had to try to see what would happen/how it would feel. Obviously I'll always post the trot/jog or carry myself in 2-point/half seat when canter/loping but all I want to do is trail ride, so i'm super happy to be back.

Glacier National Park - Goat Lick Overlook off Route 2. Handicap accessible. Sometimes you can see the mountain goats but today there were not any there. On our way out though, we spotted one drinking from snow melt coming down the mountain. I need a better camera versus my phone. It was a fluffy goat ha-ha!

⭐️ Montana - Glacier National Park ⭐️
~ Glacier NP is full of outdoor activities like hiking, biking, boating, kayaking, swimming and horseback riding. I haven't posted in awhile as we did move out to Montana. We were able to explore a lot of different areas on the way out here so stay tuned for more campsites (horse and non-horse), and more trail information. While I won't be horseback riding anytime soon, I'll still share some horse trails. Glacier has such beautiful areas for their horse trails!

Throwback to 2021 when we camped out at Valar Horse Facility in Jackson, WY to ride in Grand Teton National Park. Our favorite place!

Valar offers limited camping spots, and you have to make reservations a year in advance. You back your trailer up to their deck and have a whirlpool bath to relax in. There are some trails up the road you can ride directly in to. Then you can pay to borrow a trailer and haul over to Grand Teton National Park. Pia is a great and extremely knowledgeable host and even has hay, salt licks and more you can purchase to keep your horses comfortable while there. The pens were kept clean for us and horses each had their own spot or shared spots.

What is/are your New Years goals? It's ok to not have one and just squeak by. That's exactly what I did last year after dealing with a major spinal fusion revision surgery. I am not allowed to try and horseback ride again for a year, so my goal this year is to keep working on my body strength, get outside and hike more. That I will definitely be doing as I accepted a position with the National Park Service out west. I will still provide horse camping and trail ideas but also hiking and camping/rv ideas as I start my route heading west. I plan on definitely visiting as many National Parks along the way as I can. Maybe I will even get back in the saddle joining some guided walking rides come June. That's my ultimate New Years goal but until then I just continue to live each day to the fullest and am grateful for my second chance at a better life with a new and stronger back. 💪
