Exciting things going on around here! Most of our rabbits are moving on to new homes to make room for even nicer rabbits. So many fun things coming up!

As soon as I have our new residents ironed out I'll be posting new pics 😊

So excited that my two broken chestnut does are finally old enough to breed to my newest buck.

This lazy thing is a doe I call Chloe. She's not always one to come hang out on your lap, but she loves to follow me around to see if I drop any goodies 💗🐰

My sweet Libby is due the 8th with what I hope will be the first little of the New Year. She's been pretty standoffish which isn't normally like her, but with the cold I haven't been able to spend as much time out there as I would like.
So today I broke out the bunny crack, aka my grain mix for the rabbits, and tried to see if I could get a closer look at her to help decide if I need to prepare a shelf box or not. Well, let's just say that I'm pretty sure she's pregnant because she normally mauls me for sunflower seeds but today all I got from her grumpy butt was a thump and a grunt. Needless to say I couldn't catch her, but I did put extra nesting materials in the hut even though I don't expect her to kindle till Sunday or Monday.

Miss Grumpy Butt (aka Libby) would NOT have her picture taken but her daughter that we kept back from her last litter (the chinchilla) and my youngest broken doe Lil'Bit were happy to scarf some feed from my hand and have their pic taken.

Here on the homestead we've made the decision to raise our rabbits in colonies, or large social groups, versus cages. Not only does this save time when it comes to chores, but since we breed for friendly, social, and easy to handle rabbits we feel this is a more natural way to raise and evaluate our rabbits.

Pictured below is our founding colonies of both does (in the front) and bucks (in the back)
